  • 1. combobox help
    I have 3 check boxes and a combobox. By default, if someone chooses an item from the combobox without one of the 3 checkboxes being selected, it throws an error and tells them to first pick a checkbox, then to repick from the combo box. That works fine as long as they don't pick the same item from the combobox. What I would like is a way to reset the combobox to the default value if I throw the error (that way if the user immediately goes back and picks the same option under the combo box (without having to switch to another item first) then it will work). Thanks in advance.
  • 2. Passing Data out of an SWF
    I have created a web page with a flash movie that gets its data (text only) from an external text document. I have two questions: 1 in doing my load var I used absolute linking becuase I couldn't get relative links to work. Is there a way to get relative links? 2. I want to create an admin page for the client that allows him to add to the text doc via a dynamic text movie. Can I a) get the content of the text doc b) store that in a variable, c) take his input and put it in a second variable d) add the second variable to the first--thus adding it to the list e) then save all the info as the text doc, overwriting it? If yes, what would the action script look like? I am out of my depth.
  • 3. Saving to Array and pulling out
    Need some help. Trying to learn. I have sections with questions and answers which I can get. But, I need to save each section into new array and tally all the final scores. The screen will show the section score of current section that was just completed and the final score. I know the code has lots of problems - attached. For the total scores the dynamic text boxes var's are totalnumcorrect, totalnumIncorrect, totaluserScore. For the section score the dynamic text boxes var's are numcorrect, totalnumIncorrect, totaluserScore. The title changes for each section, so I using that with if statement. Can someone help please. Thanks //final scores var quizTitleNode=quizNode.firstChild; title=quizTitleNode.firstChild.nodeValue; //section scores section[i] = new Array(numCorrect, numIncorrect, userScore); // total score if (quizTitleNode.firstChild.nodeValue = "Section 1: The Mountains") { section[i] = section1; } else if (quizTitleNode.firstChild.nodeValue = "section 2: The Fields") { section[i] = section2; } else if (quizTitleNode.firstChild.nodeValue = "section 3: The Rivers") { section[i] = section3; } //section scores as nested arrays sectionsArray = new Array (section1, section2, section3); function countFinalScore() { for(var i=0; i = sectionsArray[0].length; i++); }

Sending Params

Postby Ryan Bellerose » Sat, 28 Jan 2006 04:38:07 GMT

I want to send two parameters to a web service. For instance I would like to
send an email and a password. I have created the following code, but I am not
sure it is correct. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

 import mx.services.*;

 result_btn.onPress = function() {

     var siteService = new
WebService(" http://www.**--****.com/ ")
;

                         objectResult2 =
siteService.GetPersonByUserIdAndPassword({sUID:" XXXX@XXXXX.COM "}{sPWD:"
234");

             siteService.onLoad = trace("loading");

                         objectResult2.onResult = function(result) {

                                     person = result;

                                     trace("Name: " + person.NameFull);

             }

                         objectResult2.onFault = function(fault) {

                         trace(fault.faultCode + "," + fault.faultstring);

             }

 }

 Thank you

 Ryan

1.Passing params

This should be simple, but like everything else, I can't figure it out. I'm
trying to get params off the URL. In my .as code I'm doing this:

 		Alert.show("0) reconnectinterval=" +
_root.application.parameters.reconnectinterval + "; maxattempts=" +
_root.application.parameters.maxattempts);

 The HTML that launches the Flash is attached below. My Alert shows the two
values as undefined. I of couse don't know if the problem is in the HTML or in
the actionscript. None of the examples I have found show the SWF being loaded
quite like our HTML does it, but it sure looked similar enough that I thought
it should work.

 Where am I screwing this up?   :disgust;

 Thanks in advance for your help.

2.FLVPlayback custom params

Can anyone please help me with this problem?

 How do I pass custom parameters to Flashcom/FMS using a FLVPlayback just like
I can with NetConnection.onConnect()?

 e.g. Normally I pass custom params to FMS like this:
 netConnection.connect("rtmp://mydomain.com...", param1, param2, ... .etc);

 How do I pass param1... etc. to FMS if I'm using an FLVPlayback component?

 Thank you!  :)

3.Setting Button Component Params

Hello, forum users and many thanks to all contributors. I'm new to Flash, but
with experience elsewhere. I'm learning fast. I have tested this issue
independently from my main project and it is simple to recreate. I have two
instances of a button component. One does not have a label. As you can see from
my code (which may or may not be well formed), the label is set in the
ActionScript by calling a function:

 function reset(){
 	test_btn.icon = "";
 	test_btn.label = "Test";
 }

 reset();

 test_btn.onRelease = function() {
 	test_btn.label = "";
 	test_btn.icon = "plussign";
 }

 reset_btn.onRelease = function() {
 	reset();
 }

 When this file is previewed, the button does indeed get a label "Test".
Clicking the "Test" button removes the label from the button and adds a button
icon. The icon is simply a graphic symbol and so far this works well. The
problem is when I click the "Reset" button. The reset button calls the same
function that is called when the file loads, it removes the icon, but it does
not set the label parameter. It's the same function, can anyone figure out why
it does not perform the same way?

4.Web Service params problem

I'm invoking a webservice connection. I want to send a list of params to the
webservice connector. I must not be understanding the syntax can anyone help?
If I have a text box and I type in the param here and use this for the params
 wsConn.params = [fst_txt.text];
 it works fine, with fst_txt being the name of my text input box.

 how do I just tell the wsConn what the params are?
 if I want the params to be say the string "akron" how do I put that in the
actionscript. This doesn't work when the webservice connector is expecting a
string;
 wsConn.params = ["akron"];
 wsConn.params =[akron.text];
 either one doesn't work. what's the format for passing a param when it's
expecting a string?
