    Seems that you can't play an flv in reverse? I've searched a lot but couldn't find a solid answer or any hints to overcome this. Is this simply impossible (without embedding and reversing the timeline) or is there a solution out there?

_x & _y of mc relative to stage and not parent mc

Postby BadMoonRising » Sat, 11 Jun 2005 22:26:05 GMT

Good Morning all,

 I?m trying to get the _x and _y of a movieclip relative to the stage where
said movieclip is nested inside several others, which have been dynamically
rotated.

 I?m hoping there is an easy way to get this rather then taking the route of
reverse engineering the position and rotation of each parent movieclip in order
to calculate it.

 Thanks in advance

Sure - take a look at:
MovieClip.localToGlobal()
in the actionScript dictionary

1.Image / MC height / _x and _y positioning

 To access height, width of image; you will have to wait till the image loads
completely. You can use custom loader for this purpose. Or look for
"MovieClipLoader" class. It provides all necessary events.

2.Setting and remembering _x _y of MC

So, Im able to store the x, y position of a dragable mc in a var but how do I
set the position of XMc when a user goes back to that screen? I need XMc to
remember where it last was(I have that) and go there when you enter frame(I
dont have that).

 XMc.onPress = function() {
 	XMc.startDrag("");
 	XMc.gotoAndStop(2);
 };
 XMc.onRelease = function() {
 	XMc.stopDrag();
 	XMc.gotoAndStop(1);
 	myX = _xmouse;
 	myY = _ymouse;
 	XmyXY = String(myX)+","+String(myY);
 	trace (XmyXY);
 };

3.absolute or relative _x/_y coordinates

Hello friends,

allrite here it goes.

I have three clips.

Lets call'em: clip0,clip1 and clip2

clip1 is INSIDE clip0

clip2 and clip0 are on the same level. How do allign clip2 to clip1?

So what I do need to find out I guess, is how I do retrieve the _x and _y coordinates of clip1 relative to the _root stage?

did this make sense? I sure hope so

thanks a lot, any help or pointers are wastly appreciated

5.Placing a mc relative to stage size?

I would like this MC from my library to attach to the right bottom corner of my
stage. The MC is registered in the top left corner. I was thinking I could
attach it using the following, but somehow that does not work. What am I doing
wrong?

 this.attachMovie("copynote", "copynote", this.getNextHighestDepth(),
{_x:Stage.width - copynote._width, _y:Stage.height - copynote._height});

 Thanks a lot for any help!
