  • 1. Stack Effect Philosophy ( a -- a+n ) vs ( a -- )
    Is there a standard or precedence for whether a word should return an incremented buffer address or not? For example, say CHUNK processes data at address 'a' N bytes at a time (like Flash bursts). It could be defined/used in these two ways. Which is more appropriate; although less convenient, maybe ( a -- ) is more commonly accepted: : CHUNK ( a -- ) ... ; 'BUF n 0 DO DUP CHUNK N + LOOP DROP : CHUNK ( a -- a+N ) ... ; 'BUF n 0 DO CHUNK LOOP DROP Complicate it with source and destination addresses: : CHUNK ( a1 a2 -- ) ... ; 'BUF 'DEST n 0 DO 2DUP CHUNK N + SWAP N + SWAP LOOP 2DROP : CHUNK ( a1 a2 -- a1+N a2+N ) ... ; 'BUF 'DEST n 0 DO CHUNK LOOP 2DROP

  • 3. Help with Forth Scientific Library
Hi all, I am currently working on a robotics project at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Unlike everyone else I am using Forth to code the program. I am one of those nonprogrammer programmers. I was wondering if anyone had ported Alogorithm #48 (Gauss Jordan Elimination) to Win32Forth. I have already posted this question in the Win32Forth yahoo group. malloc-fail? is the only word that Win32Forth does not seem to recognize. I think malloc-fail? has something to do with allocating memory. Thanks for your help, Josef

My Spanish has deteriorated, can you give me a direct link to the
sources? The ZIP only seems to have executables and an .ini file.

In any case, congratulations -- jc
