How can I turn the sound off and/or down on an embedded Flash swf file in FrontPage HTML? I cannot modify the original swf file and the sound defaults to on and is also too loud. So I am looking for a way to default the sound to off and lower when turned on. Thanks.

Hello, I've been "fortunate" enough to inherit a job with a website which has went back and forth between versions of Frontpage. A few months back, our biggest customer (nearly 1GB worth of website big) had FP XP (2003?) client installed on his computer, for some reason or another. Recently his system had FP 2003 removed so he is again using FP 2000. This appears to be causing a problem with some of the files he modified with FP 2003. When he loads the site, he gets the following error for one of the subsites - "The server '"' timed out. The current request did not complete successfully." I am NOT a web admin by trade, and was not hired for that position, however the original admin left last week, and his backup is out of the area for at least another week. I know the old administrator was attempting to fix this problem before he left, and it appears he fixed most of the files/folders, however a few can still not be opened from within FP 2000. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? fyi, I know the size of the site is huge, however I'm not in a position to dictate how much space the user is allowed. Regardless, the problem still needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, reverting to Frontpage 2003 isn't feasible, as it is currently not allowed on our network. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I'm no expert - let me tell you that first off. However I have written SWF movies with sound. It is my understanding that you can't control the SWF file itself via normal coding. You have to author the code to insert events that turn it off and on. That's how I wrote my SWF movie - by inserting an event to do this. If you get the SWF second hand (download or whatever), I'm not sure you can control it - other than a physical aciton of turning down or muting the volume. Good luck.
