quark to ? compatibility

Have a specific problem with compatibility. Am using Quark Express 4.0 and
wrote a 35 page book with graphics, text and pictures that I enhanced and
edited. Now I am trying to print this book BUT to print in full color with
the clarity that makes it look good cost anywhere from 60 cents to $1 a page
at a printers which defeats making a profit.
Someone I know can print this one their laser printer and did when I first
did it on Microsoft Word and it came out perfect but computer does not have
the software Quark installed and it is not a possibility to install any
other software on the computer with the laser printer because it is at a
work place.
Question) Can a file with text and pictures/graphics that is saved with
Quark Express be "copied" or "transferred" to another format such as
Microsoft Word, so it could be printed with this laser printer but not with
the Quark Software.
Thank you for your time and help, much time invested and am stuck.

Wow. You need to learn to post in the correct newsgroup. I'd look for a
Quark newsgroup if I were you, because they will be able to help you much
more. The only answer I can think to give you is to generate a PDF, since
most public computers have Acrobat Reader installed. However, I cannot help
make your PDF file. Try somewhere else.

Wrong group... but.. Install printer driver on your machine, and
print to file from Quark. Later.. just copy this file to printer
(copy /b filename.prn LPT1:)
or print to pdf and later print form Acrobat Reader.

Export it to PDF. It's the only possibility to keep your layout. I'm not
sure if Quarks can save a document to PDF directly, but there are many
freeware tools you can try (most of them act as a printer, so you only have
to print the doc with this virtual printer). Have a look at google.
Other possibility (depends on your layout needs) is to set the document by
LaTeX, which provide PDF-publishing "out-of-the-box".
