  • 1. Automated saves - CS2
I just lost the last twelve hours of work. I thought I was working four levels deep in nested Smart Objects and I was actually working five. So each time I would back out to do my saves I was would back out one level too shallow. When it came time to end my session I closed PS and when prompted to save the outermost layer it looked exactly like the template I started with so naturally I closed it without saving. What kills me is that this could have happened anytime in the last nine days when I was beating my head against the wall trying to understand transparency and advanced blending and getting nowhere but this was the twelve hours that was the culmination of all that work. It will all have to be redone. Not that I blame PS, I am to blame, but does anyone know of an automated save feature that I am overlooking or if not maybe a third party plug-in that would do the saves? As if I will ever let this happen again. Thanks, Ron
  • 2. Direction of Type
Hi, I am trying to 'Type' along a path. I need to type along the lower half of the circle with the word reading from left to right in a counter clockwise direction but when I set the starting point on the left side of the circle the text always types moving clockwise. How can I reverse the direction of the typing? Thanks, Ron

    CS2 - cannot use Browse Error 2: photoshop is undefined. Line: 1 -> photoshop.invokeBridge(false,false,");
  • 4. Snapping to canvas center - CS2
H, Is it possible to make the center of the Photoshop canvas snap-to- able? I would like to be able to use the canvas center as a point of reference but apparently Smart Guides do not snap to it and even placing guides is a pain in that the only way I have found to center them is to use the 'info' palette. Does anyone know of a way to easily locate the center of the canvas without using the grid and preferably without using guides? Thanks, Ron
  • 5. CS Automation
I am trying to use the automation interface in a C++ application with Photoshop CS. The application is failing with the call to MakeDescriptor on the application object. This works flawlessly in Photoshop 6 and I have actually had it work with CS on other machines. I've uninstalled all versions of Photoshop and reinstalled CS, registered the typelibrary with regtlb, and have tried tweaking the registry by hand without success. I've also tried using the version dependant progid to no avail. One of the stranger thing is that I've installed the scriptlistener into the plugins folder and the log file produced many calls that are not available in the COM interface, such as CharIDToTypeID. Anybody know anything about what may be causing this?

Multiple prints on one page?

Postby Ronald Bruck » Sat, 15 May 2004 12:59:29 GMT

Two naive question:

1. How can I print two 5"x7" prints on a single US Letter
page? Should fit, if they're 7 inches wide and 5 inches
high. But how do I do it?

  2. How can I join two (or more) Photoshop canvases? You see
     what I'm getting at.

More generally, how can I print n copies of a picture, scaled to fit on
a single sheet? There MUST be a convenient way to do this.

I'm using Photoshop CS, on a dual 2GHz G5 Macintosh running OS X 10.3
server, with an Epson R800 printer. This has me sorely puzzled,
because the Epson driver doesn't let me specify the size of the paper,
free-form.

Try File > Automate > Picture Package ... read the on-line Help for details.

You can also do it manually by resizing the file to 5x7" at the desired rez and
putting two copies on one canvas.

Couple of ways come to mind ... make a new document of the desired size and
then move each file separately to the new doc, or take one document and do
Image > Canvas Size and enter the new dimensions to grow the current canvas,
then move the other file over to it. Read up on the 'anchor' option (or just
try a couple of the options to see what it does) and set the 'canvas extension
color' to White.

Probably File > Automate > Picture Package is the best option. Also look at
the File > Automate > Contact Sheet II option.

2.Printing one graphic over multiple pages

I have a graphic that spans 2 pages. When I insert it,
Word shrinks it to fit one page. When I enlarge it to the
normal size, it spans the two pages.

1. How do I keep Word from truncating my graphic?

2. How do I print the graphic so it spans the multiple
pages?

3.Splitting one large page into multiple smaller pages

Hello,

I have a PDF file that is a Chart and the quality is lousy when
printed to a plotter due to
apparent degredation in the PDF file with lots of lines, boxes and
text. The size is 42" x 120".
Which is a typical symptom for PDFs I have learned. Does anyone know
of a free or inexpensive
tool to split the PDF up into multipe pages that would be 42" x
perhaps 12" or 24".

Thanks,

4.multiple page to one document

I have been given a 67 page catalog made in PM 6.5. Each page has been
saved as a individual file. I have PM 7 and want to put these pages
into one document. Is there a simple way to do this?

5.Multiple linked excel pictures on one page

Hello

I am trying to create a page in Word that will contain 8 pictures, organized
in two columns, four rows. The pictures come from excel, where I have made
them embedded objects in a sheet; resized to be as close to the size of the
chart in Word as possible; and copied as pictures. In Word, I made a table
with two columns and four rows. I linked the pictures into the cells of the
table using edit+paste special+link. I then highlighted, and did
format+picture and cropped to get rid of the extra white border around the
actual chart inside the picture (this extra part occupies more than half of
the picture). I then manually resized the pictures so they occupy the full
cell of the table.

I have had two problems: (1) After closing and opening the files, and/or
making changes to the data underlying the excel charts, the cropping and
resizing of the pictures in the word document is lost; (2) There are some
borders around the picture area that I cannot seem to get rid of, despite
trying everything in formatting that I can think of (paragraph, table,
picture), etc. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thank you very much
