Combining two images - help please?

  • 1. Using magnetic lasso tool crashes PS
I'm using Photoshop CS2 on a PC and when making a selection with the magnetic lasso tool, the image I'm working on (and any other image I have open within PS, including PS itself) turns grey and blank. It's very strange, it happens as I work and make that one click, then bang! The whole app turns a grey color and I have to start all over again and hope it doesn't do it again! It's almost like a low memory issue, but I have 1.5 GB installed though which should be enough. When it happens I can see the actual tool itself in the grey background and I can move it around, but it doesn't do any good since I don't see the image itself. Sometimes the system clears itself and I'm able to continue after a few seconds, but sometimes not and I have to ALT-TAB to scroll my apps which usually clears it, but I lose my work. I have the latest updates from Adobe installed. Anyone have any ideas what might be the cause?? My system: WinXP 2.88 P4 1.5GB RAM

Combining two images - help please?

Postby robertl » Sat, 24 Apr 2004 17:12:38 GMT

I'm new to Photoshop, so apologies for asking what may seem a simple

I have an image to which I want to add, diagonally, another (white
strip, diagonally, with red type, with the word "SOLD" - like estate
agents do.

But though I've struggled for the past hour, I can't discover how to
do it.

Can anyone please advise, or alternatively point me to the appropriate
part of the "Help" database?

1.How to combine two images?

I have two images that are 200x200. I want to combine
these into a new image that is around 400x400. When I
double the size of the canvas size to accommodate the
pasted image, I can't move it to the enlarged area,
which looks like a gray and dark gray chess board.

How can I combine two images?

2.'combining' two images

I am a newbie at using The Gimp and would appreciate some help. I have
two images that I would like to 'combine'. That is, I would like to take
the upper left triangle of image 1 and merge with the lower right
triangle of image 2. Both images are the same size. Between the two I
would like an effect like a morph between the two.

3.Combining two images

Beginner to Photoshop seeking help!

I need to add a small button image to the two right hand corner of an
image. Both pictures are jpegs. All I have succeeded in doing has been
to have the small image bang in the centre. What method do I use to
locate the button in the top right hand corner please? Can anyone
either please explain, or direct me to a website that will explain in
simple terms?!

4.Combine two images

I'm a newbie. I want to combine two images into one. One is greyscale
image of a bunch of small 0's and 1's laid diagonally. I would like to
'lay' this image over another such that only the 0's and 1's are
visible, but the underlying image's contour shows through via the
thinning and bolding of the 0's and 1's. Is there a way to do this in
PSP 6? I've tried textures, but I just get a blending of the two - not
what I want.

Many thanx to any who can help,

5.Re-combining two bitmaps from delta image

I have bitmap A, which I have 'painted' a thick blue line upon using a paint program and added some white text, to make bitmap B.
I thought I had worked out how to get the delta bitmap B-A, that is the difference between two other bitmaps. But now I want to 'recombine' the delta bitmap with the bitmap A onscrean to obtain bitmap B's image I'm getting problems.

My delta image is mostly black with an area showing the original image, but different colours, where the blue line is. The white text of image B looks brown.

On it said the fastest way to combine images for the screen was to blit them. With dwRop set to SrcPaint, the new combined image has the white text, but the thick blue line has some blue in but is mostly white too.

Not sure what I'm missing so any help will be appreciated
