  • 2. Help with HP9000 D-class
Hi Folks, I'm looking for a little help getting going with a d-class that I have just been given. It passes hardware tests ok on the lcd display, and I have a 700/96 plugged in to it (which works and is, I believe, correctly configured as it was plugged into another d-class when i took it :-D ) On the back of my d-class I have 3 serial ports - 2 on the "main board" and one next to a modem looking device on an extension card: This card has a switch that has 2 positions - service and normal. It's curerntly in service position. The 700/96 is currently plugged into Serial 1/Console on the main board. When I power the machine on it runs through its self test - but nothing appears on the terminal. Attempts to type and hit 'enter' on the terminal displays a No 'TO'device - Press return to enter. The machine gets as far as "INIT C44A AP CONSOLE CPU01", or sometimes "INIT C640 AP CONSOLE CPU01" on the LCD and goes no further. I'd be greatful for any help on how I can get console output on the 700/96, I've RTFW and realise that the 2 INITs it comes up with are both related to it not being able to initialise the console, but have no more clue on how I can get it working. Thanks in advance if any of you can help, Cheers, Phil HP-n00b :-)

I have several new HP A1289A Nextreme SCSI RAID Adapters which are based on the LSI SYM21040 Ultra160 SCSI Adapter. Sadly, I don't have the software that's necessary to create RAID arrays with this controller. HP and LSI support weren't able to help me. Anyone here has one of these RAID controllers and is willing to help me with the software? Or maybe it's available for download elsewhere? Benjamin
  • 5. HP printer keeps printing "calibration page"!
I have an HP cp1160 printer, and after a recent session where I printed a number of test pages and calibration pages, the printer seems to be stuck in calibration page mode. Everytime I turn it on it prints a calibration page. After every print it prints another calibration page. I can't find a switch in the software that will shut this off. I went to the HP web site and downloaded the latest driver kit and installed it, but no change in the situation. Any suggestions for a way to fix this problem? John

Deskjet 1220c : Printing Super A3 size / Print Quality

Postby J » Thu, 19 May 2005 01:45:25 GMT

Hi

I have an A3 graphic which i am printing on the super A3 (nobi - 13x19")
sized paper.

When I print using the official HP software, it doesn't look as bold and
crisp as when I print via the minidriver that winXP installs when it finds
the printer. I enabled "photo mode" in the minidriver (2400x1200dpi), i
think this was what makes the colours look better.

However, when I use the minidriver, it stops the print 14" down the page
every time, therefore cutting off the bottom of the image. This is with the
super A3 setting for the paper.

I want the rich, bold colours of the minidriver but with the full image
printed!

Any ideas? Perhaps a way to enable the better print mode from the standard
drivers? Or a way to stop the minidriver cutting off the bottom of the
image?

PS

The weird thing is, if i take the exact same file, same print settings and
same paper, i CAN print the whole A3 image when i draw a rectangle over the
image (ie i replace the image with a black outline rectangle of the same
size).

Any ideas?

- sorry to reply to my own post :)

1.Really slow prints with HP Deskjet 1220c and reinstall driver problems

Hi everyone!

I'm having problems with my HP Deskjet 1220c printer under Windows XP
(32bit). Printing in limited user accounts does not work (it says
something about not enough free space in temporal folder) and only when
I enter in an admin user account, it starts to print.

But some days ago, printer is really really slow. It's about 10 minutes
to print just one page in black&white!! It prints a line and stops,
like no information arrives to the printer and was just waiting.

Then I tried to uninstall printer and reinstall WinXP drivers
downloaded from HP website, but after selecting install options, it
comes the "Please wait. At this moment the installation program is
running." box (or something like that 'cause I'm spanish and texts
appears in spanish) and it just hang in that screen and nothing
happens.

What's wrong now with my printer? I've never had problems 'till now.
Printer is connected through USB port to my PC.

Thanks a lot!

2.HP Deskjet 1220c - Prints strange characters

Here is the problems that none of us in IT have been able to resolve
for our director.

She has a Deskjet 1220c and the machine works fine. It's connected
locally to her machine (W2K Proff) via a parallel cable. Shen she
prints something, the printout comes out fine. Problem occurs when she
prints something and she runs out of paper. After refilling the paper
tray and hitting continue on the printer to continue printing the
existing document, the remainding sheets come out with 1-3 rows of
strange characters on the very top and nothing else. She is then
forced to resend the print job again from scratch whish is becoming a
real nuisance. I checked HPs site and found nothing. Downloaded the
latest drivers and the problem still occurred. Tried switching to a
USB cable and the problem still occurs.

We've tried everything but the punching and leg dropping test on that
printer so we're hoping someone can shed some light on this issue.

Any help is appreciated.

3.HP Deskjet 1220C - Strange character on page when printing

My boss has a Deskjet 1220C set up on her computer locally through a
USB port. What is happening is whenever something is printed on this
printer, no matter what is it, word doc, excel, picture file, etc, it
always adds 1 strange character at the bottom of every page. The
problem is sometimes resolved when the printer is turned off and then
turned on again but then after a while, the problem returns again. I
tried downloading the latest drivers from HP's web site and
reinstalling teh printer and the problem continues. She is running
Windows 2000 and is connected to a domain. Any ideas what could be
causing this?

Thanks in advance.

4.Deskjet 1220c - Printing a Rich Black?

I'm printing graphics from a Deskjet 1220c. The colours in the image are
greys and black, the image format is RGB.

I previously printed the image and the black areas in it were a rich, dark
black.

Now when I print it, both from Illustrator and from Photoshop, the black
comes out as about a 90% bluish grey. I have tried various combinations of
profiles, intents, making the file greyscale format, CMYK etc. I just can't
seem to get it printing a true black again.

The black in the Illustrator version of the image is currently:

c 95
m 83
y 82
k 90

I think this should make a dark black? I conclude that the ink combination
is changing when its on the way to the printer.

On my last print attempt, these were the settings:

document colour mode: RGB
Illustrator colour settings: europe general purpose defaults
print space: same as source

The black was still bluish grey.

Please help! I've been on this for days...
