When scanning images with my HP PSC 1210, I always get annoying lines in the picture, especially in dark areas of the image. This also happens when copying. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. Is there a setting I have configured wrong? It has never worked properly. (The printer works great, though.) I am running Windows ME on an HP Pavilion 7940 PC. Thanks!
  • 2. REQ: Cartridge info for HP PSC 1210
I bought it as a clearance special with no paperwork or cables, found the online drivers & manual, but cannot find mention of what cartrides it takes. Currently it has 2 cartridges in it, HP C6657A (colour) and HP C6656A (black) My question is, does it need / take a seperate photo cartridge and if so what number, or is the C6657A cartridge good enough for photos ? thanks, Tim S PS: anyone in south wales want an Apollo P-2100U minus a usb cable but with good cartridges? Is anyone using the d145 and the 1300 printers on the same system system (stand alone system)? I'm wondering if there are conflicts between the two being on the same system (I've read that the d145 has conflicts with some other HP printers being on the same system). They would run under Windows XP. Thanks Charlie ****************************************************** Charliec NOTE: Remove "NOSPAM" to respond via Email

It annoys me that HP (and most other manufacturers) no longer supply restore disks.... Apparently some US users have had success in obtaining some from HP - wonder whether we in the UK can? Is there a charge? Si.

A1520N Light on On Off switch stays on when the computer shuts down

Postby Harold A. Climer » Mon, 04 May 2009 10:21:48 GMT

I have a A1520N. The Blue Light on the On Off switch stays on when the
computer shuts down. It normally shut off when the computer shut down.
The computer is really shut down because when I hit the switch the
computer boots up.

1.HP OfficeJet 7310xi does not shut off, scanner light alway on

The printer is supposed to go into a power save mode after a
configurable time. I configured mine for 1 hour. It didn't work. The
printer stayed on all the time. What is worse, the scanner light stayed
on all the time.

I am convinced that this is a firmware problem. My first printer
(firmware revision RL3001xNx) exhibited this problem but my second
(RL4001xNx) did not.

My first printer would also get into a state where I could not turn it
off from the front panel. I would have to yank the power cable from the
back to get it to turn off.

HP tech support says that this is not a problem. They say that it is
designed to leave the scanner light on all the time. Huh? Are you
kidding me?

Of course, by the time the bulb burns out the printer will be out of
warranty and it won't be an HP problem then - it will be your problem.
They should say that this is not an HP problem.

I am sure that the HP company line forces the tech support people not to
admit this problem because they would have a huge problem if everyone
returned their printer like I did. I don't know if I should believe them
but they tell me that the only way to upgrade the firmware is for the
factory to do it. I see no firmware upgrades on the web. Since they gave
me no alternative, I returned the printer to my vendor and picked up a
new one.

I was lucky. The printer I got in exchange for the old one had newer
firmware that fixed the problem. It also fixed some other problems I was
having.

2.Kayak XAs 7/500 MT: switch off the I/O fan warning light

Hi,

I've got 3 dual-CPU Kayak's and like them (those are my first dual-CPU
PCs ever and I run OpenBSD on them). However from the one of them
I had to remove the fan and the speaker at the very bottom (facing
front).

Now the small BW LCD-display which should normally show a smiley,
shows the warning about a failed I/O fan and a nearby red light is
blinking.

Is there a way to switch this warning off, as I don't really need that
fan?

I've found nothing in the PhoenixBIOS (which I've up'ed to HU 11.11 US)

Thank you
Alex

4.LJ6L light stays on and printer does not print

LJ6L printer 4+ year old. Error light stays on.

It worked until yesterday. When it was printing several pages, it
stopped printing midpage. I opened it and pulled the paper out (and it
came out whole). Now the yellow error light is constantly on (not
blinking).

There is no paper stuck in the printer. The toner cartridge looks
fine. I press the little button on front and wait for the 3 lights to
come on in sequence; it goes thru the sequence but always ends up with
the error light on, and the printer will not print at all. I unplugged
the printer for 10 minutes and disconnected it from the PC. No change.

Any ideas what I could try?

Thanks!

Joel
