How do you get the Attention light to go off

Postby J Dolliver » Wed, 08 Nov 2006 04:04:27 GMT

We bounced our HP3000 over the weekend and our attention light is now on.

We have an A500 running 7.5 pp2...

Can someone tell me how to get the light to turn off. I just cannot remember how to do it...
Must be old age...

Thanks,

Joe Dolliver

On the console, type Ctrl-B to get to the GSP. At that point,
log in if it asks you to (usually by hitting return a few times).
At the prompt, type "SL" to show the log. Once you've looked at
the Error Log, the light will go out. Type "CO" to go back to
console mode.

Does anyone know how to get the GSP to work on another terminal other
than the system console? One of my co-workers remembers something
through a web-like interface but could not remember anything else on
this.

Joe,

They say memory is the second thing to go... don't ask me about the first.

To get the attention light to go off...

1) Telnet to the GSP port (or go to the console)
2) If telneting do a Control Shift Ecf to get write access
3) Control B
4) SL will show logs
5) toggle through all the logs

That SHOULD turn off the attention light.

1.Lightscribe getting lighter & lighter - help please!

I don't know how to explain it exactly. I have burned maybe 40
lightscribed DVD's. I have upgrade the firmware and the INCREASED
contrast software. I burned about 15 DVD the other week and it was
great. Nice dark colour but this week when I went to burn another 5
DVD, they are came out very much lighter then the other ones - even
though it is at the same settings. I have it on BEST and the contrast
software installed. Any one else experience this? Using HP media and an
LG drive. Does the lightscribe run out? The media for all burns has
been the same HP.

I should also add : when I burn it twice (without removing the media of
course) - I get concentric circle running from the center outwards, so
I don't want to do that anymore.

3.Files gone after doing Restore From Ignite Tape

Hi Guys:

I am wondering if anyone has come across this before!.

I just recovered a downed K570 with the latest Ignite Tape that we had made
last friday. The tape was created to include only VG00. The ignite ver. is
B.5.4.50 on B.11.11.

After recovery machine rebooted but we found that our vg01 to vg03 lvol's
were mounted but had not files. bdf showed all used at 0%. My weekly script
that collects stats every sunday nite showed that all lvols had at least 50%
fs full with some close to 80%.

Any ideas what could have happened? Or something I can look into?

Your help is appreciated as always.

Thanks.

Vince.

4.A1520N Light on On Off switch stays on when the computer shuts down

I have a A1520N. The Blue Light on the On Off switch stays on when the
computer shuts down. It normally shut off when the computer shut down.
The computer is really shut down because when I hit the switch the
computer boots up.

5.HP OfficeJet 7310xi does not shut off, scanner light alway on

The printer is supposed to go into a power save mode after a
configurable time. I configured mine for 1 hour. It didn't work. The
printer stayed on all the time. What is worse, the scanner light stayed
on all the time.

I am convinced that this is a firmware problem. My first printer
(firmware revision RL3001xNx) exhibited this problem but my second
(RL4001xNx) did not.

My first printer would also get into a state where I could not turn it
off from the front panel. I would have to yank the power cable from the
back to get it to turn off.

HP tech support says that this is not a problem. They say that it is
designed to leave the scanner light on all the time. Huh? Are you
kidding me?

Of course, by the time the bulb burns out the printer will be out of
warranty and it won't be an HP problem then - it will be your problem.
They should say that this is not an HP problem.

I am sure that the HP company line forces the tech support people not to
admit this problem because they would have a huge problem if everyone
returned their printer like I did. I don't know if I should believe them
but they tell me that the only way to upgrade the firmware is for the
factory to do it. I see no firmware upgrades on the web. Since they gave
me no alternative, I returned the printer to my vendor and picked up a
new one.

I was lucky. The printer I got in exchange for the old one had newer
firmware that fixed the problem. It also fixed some other problems I was
having.
