  • 1. Yet another connectivity problem
I have a HP48GII and am attempting to transfer files to and from my PC, which runs XP Professional. If I use hyperterminal on PC with Kermit at 9600 baud, I am able to print a program listing from the calculator to the hperterminal screen on my PC. However, attempts to transfer files using things like HP PC Connectivity Kit are not working. Here is my Kermit configuration: Calculator: Port: Wire Type: Kermit Fmt: ASC Xlat: ->255 Chk: 3 Baud: 9600 Parity: NONE OvrW: <Checked> Test object is a program file. I am using COM1, which has the following attributes according to the mode command on my comptuer: Baud: 9600 Parity: None Data Bits: 8 Stop Bits: 1 Timeout: ON XON/XOFF: OFF CTS handshaking: OFF DSR handshaking: OFF DSR sensitivity: OFF DTR circuit: ON RTS circuit: ON It seems to me that if I can print, the serial cable connection must be good between the two devices, but there must be some protocol problem. I would greatly appreciate any ideas that someone might have. Thank you in advance. tom harper

I did just buy a new HP48G+ ... but I read here so much horror about the keyboard *urgs* Shall I return it and take ... what? Is the Hp48G ,G2 better? I am used to use a HP28s which died after some decades, but never before. any help?
  • 3. Debyg4x and HP48 *SX*
I'd like to use Debug4x to write programs for my old 48SX (never programmed it in SysRPL, and curious to see how it performs...) Of course I need the ROM (on hpcalc), the KML file (on hpcalc) and the entry point list... Is this on hpcalc too? More specifically, can I use a GX entry-points list? According to the experience of other people, which file on hpcalc is best suited for the task? PS: my SX is a revision E. I have tuned mine by using the "150 -> Keytime" command. This reduces the delay for the repeat key sequence
and has helped. You can experiment with the number but if you go too low you will get double or triple key readings
for a single press. Still with this adjustment I miss around 5% of my keystrokes. I also turned on the key beep so I can
tell when it has missed an entry. I think the keyboard is way too stiff and I've even tried to wear it in by exercizing them
with the unit off.

I am now looking to find an old HP48g or SX like I used to have before loosing my SX in an office fire last year.

See attached PDF.
