I have an HP49G+ with production stamp 'CN334xxxxx' so the keyboard is less than perfect of course. I currently run OS ROM version 2.05-4 which is an un-official release but I am able to use KEYTIME to make the keyboard actually quite useable. I'd like to upgrade to OS version 2.09 ( official release ) but I'm not sure about the keyboard issue - if I upgrade will the official ROM still allow me to compensate for my poor keyboard with KEYTIME ? HP49G+ USB Communication

Postby Michael Harsh » Mon, 25 Oct 2004 12:50:54 GMT

When attempting to establish communication from my PC through the USB port
to my HP 49G+ I get the following:

Error(The connectivity kit unable to open communications to HPx9G+)
I Made sure Xmodem Server and Waiting for Command is displayed on the
calculator.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Much

Try plugging in the calc with its power off, then, AFTER its plugged
into the computer, turn the calc on.

Maybe is a fail on calculator, but is improbably because hp49g+ has a
really good quality... hehehehe.....

Hp49g+ is made using the best {*filter*}materials of entire world, hp corp.
process shit and paper together and gets the hp49g+ main board, and
then make the keyboard and overall hardware recicling dettachable
plastic bottles mixin them with residual of hp printer catridges to
get the perfect color.

Try re-installing usb drivers

1.hp49g+: usb to serial communication

Is it possible to convert the USB connection to serial RS232?

At work I am currently using windows terminal with the following
settings to connect to a weighing device (windows terminal / no
handshake / 19200 baud / 2 stop bits / 1 start bit / 8 data bits /
nonparity).

Is this possible with the HP48GX? (ignoring the USB converter part!)

Thank you for your time

3.HP49g+ communication and rom update problems

Just bought an HP49g+. Unfortunately the serial number is 52... not
53..., but the keys seem OK. The version is HP-49C, 2.00.

I downloaded the latest USB driver and software from HP. Seems very
buggy to me. I have to try connecting over and over, and eventually it
connects. But it always disconnects after I transfer one thing. (I'm
not using a USB hub). Then after some use, it no longer recognizes the
calc, and I have to uninstall and re-install to get it to show up. Very
frustrating.

To get around this, I got a 256 MB SD card and card reader. That's
working fine - the card and it's files show up in the file browser. Now
I'm trying to update to ROM 2.0.6 (from hpcalc.org). I formatted the SD
card on the calc, then plugged into the PC, and copied the bin and scp
files over. Then I plugged it back into the calc, reset holding - and
+, selected rom update from the card. It keeps saying it can't find the
script file (update.scp). I tried this several times to a freshly
formatted card.

Any suggestions?

4.IR communication between HP48G and HP49G+ ?

I read somewhere that the HP49G+ is IrDA and that the HP48G is not IrDA
compatible. Does that mean that i wont be able to get them to talk to
eachother ? If it is possible, can someone tell me how ?

TIA
