  • 1. Gothic Control Question, Please?
Just for grins, I downloaded the demo for Gothic (the first) just to see what it was like. Heard good things from most people about I & II, with the exception of the controls in Gothic. Basically, when I tried the demo I discovered the mouse wouldn't work at all. I managed to peck my way through to find a few screens and to move this way or that -- but can't figure out now to pick something up that I find. No mouse, no other instructions (even in help) that seem to apply. I admit it, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. How do I get the thing to work? Thanks so much, DrM
  • 2. Divine Divinity - Can't kill Demon of Lies
I am at the last battle and I simply cannot kill the Demon of Lies. He spawns a bunch of buddies and can't even heal myself with Super Heals fast enough to keep from dying. Is there any way to win this fight?
  • 3. About Sacred's Items
I've played a wood elf to level 25 and a seraphim to level 15. Call me stupid, but I've just realized this is the first RPG I've ever played where I don't really know if I've found a "good" item or not. Now, is that because almost no items are "good" and I haven't found any yet, or is that because they're almost all "good" and I haven't found any *really* good items yet? At any rate, every other RPG that I've ever played leaves no room for question. But in Sacred, with items having such a mishmash of different-colored names (that all seem to change when you pick them up), items having two levels, stats that mean absolutely nothing to you and no place that I know of where you can even find out what they mean or what they do, I don't know *what* the hell I've found. I may very well have sold Sacred's version of "set" or "unique" items and not even known it. In games like this, item "rewards" don't mean squat if you don't *recognize* that's what they are, and for this and several other reasons my motivation to play is sufferering mightily. Or am I just extraordinarily dense? -- chainbreaker If you need to email, then chainbreaker (naturally) at comcast dot net--that's "net" not "com"--should do it.
  • 4. Sacred-Jerk Off game?
Seriously, did they make this game for Jerk Offs? Bad enough that the Main quest consists of running from one side of the game world to the other, repeatedly, forever, but they make the game world a continuos fucking maze on top of that. It's not *fun* - it's ANNOYING. There's no fucking reason in the world why they had to make the maps like this - it's a pure time-sink tactic. And why didn't they hire some Americans to write the network coding? This has got to be the absolute worst and buggiest network implementation in the history of man. Join 4 games - 3 of them will crash. Or maybe all 4 of them. They'll put you in and endless loop, many times, either with a "pausing" message or with a "disconnecting" message - forcing the user to physically turn off their computer to get out of it. No excuse. None. People should be fired. I vote we send Donald Trump over to Europe to clean house.

I think the Blue State folks and the Red State folks would both be happier.

happier.

All the bitter lefties whining about the red states should use their
heads and realize that not everyone in those states is what they
are portraying. Some of the vote margins were fairly close. There
are alot of people out there who agree with you. But the left is
so bitter and angry they are saying stupid things right now, and
going to even further alienate the people who DO support them
in those states.

And the vote was very close in several blue states as well. Don't
presume to think that any of us in blue states (I'm one of them)
is on your side.

Take a deep breath and relax for crying out loud (not you who
I'm responding to, but all the ranting lefties).

Be fair - I heard much worse ranting when Clinton won, both times.
What I find depressing in the whole matter is that the margin of victory was
made up of people who are adherents to faith over reason, dogma over
rational thought (I;m speaking of the Evangelical Vote).
Setting aside that we have a walking disaster for a "president" who is
leading the country off a cliff...
I think all this talk of leaving is silly. If you (the metaphorical everyman
"you", not you personally) think the USA is in so much danger, then at least
try to change it with all your strength and intelligence for the next four
years. That's gotta be easier and more worthwhile than moving to a new
country. And if you aren't willing to fight to save your country, if you
just leave, well, you're not an American are you?

A big part of Rove's plan was to mobilize the evangelical vote.
It worked.
Do you need the URLs?

>>>What I find depressing in the whole matter is that the margin of victory

According to AP exit polling, 44% of those voting for Bush identified
themselves as evangelical, and 26% of those voting for Kerry did so. A
significant difference to be sure, but it's not accurate to say Bush received
the entire evangelical vote...

Except that it wasn't even in "John Galt"'s original post. You can't
remove what was never there.

I find it funny that people who consider themselves intellectual make
such ignorant rationalizations.
