I want to install a USB external sound card. Should I remove my old card and its drivers? My computer is running slowly, and I am guessing I have too much stuff running. Or will the USB sound card automatically clear out the other drivers when it runs?
2.Multiple USB 2.0 sound cards -- conflicts?
I would like to run four USB 2.0 sound-card programs simultaneously under XP. Each app uses only LINE-IN (or MIC) and LINE-OUT (or headphones). All signals are mono. Each app provides a drop-down menu to select a particular installed adapter. I am up to two apps and having some difficulties already. I am trying to operate using an integrated nVidia low-tech AC97 adapter and an external Audigy 2 NX on a USB 2.0 port. I *can* get both apps to run properly at the same time. There seems to be some overlap on PC Speaker sounds, which I can live with. The problem seems to be that the nVidia adapter app seems to forget its assignment when I turn the Audigy off and then on. This suggests that XP plug-and-play management does unexpected things. Creative says that there can be conflicts between sound cards, but provides no details. If I am just using these adapters for A/D and D/A of mono-in and mono-out, what are the likely conflicts? What are the workarounds? Ken (to reply via email remove "zz" from address)
3.Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB sound card hiss/static
Hi, Installed my new Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB sound card and it works well except for a hiss/static that starts when I begin playing a file. Same thing for .WAV or .MP3 files. If I raise the volume I can overtake this background hiss, but it is quite noticeable at low volumes. Things I have done to try and fix it include; using a different USB port on my laptop, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers (both from the CD and the newest ones on the TB website, antivirus software turned off), turning off all other sound inputs/outputs in sound properties, fiddling with obvious settings such as effects, eq, etc. Nothing makes any difference. It happens if I play a CD in the drive or a .MP3 off the hard drive. I'm using an IBM R30 laptop, XP SP2, Celeron 900 Mhz, 256 MB SDRAM 14 GB free on my hard drive. Any ideas you intelligent people?
4.Please recommend a replacement for Yuri's Revenge
This game is an expansion to Red Alert 2. It's a real time strategy game. So anything similar which will run in my Dell 610 laptop which has: 512 MB RAM 16 MB video and built-in graphics card WinXP ... and about 3-5 GB of disk space available. More in depth and better AI than Red Alert 2 or Yuri's Revenge would be great. WWII and the line is fine too so long as it has planes or flying things. Thanks in advance.
