I'm having what appears to be a rather unusual problem. None of the experts I've worked with on it seem to have a clue what could be causing it. When I connect either of two XP-Pro based computers directly to the Internet via the broadband device, everything works just fine. However, when I take either of these computers and put them behind a router, both exhibit the same problem: After about 85 minutes, the browser is unable to access any websites, Outlook is unable to send/receive email, and the ftp client does not work (including the command prompt "ftp".) What does continue to work is ping. I can ping to my heart's content, but nothing else seems to work. I can do tracert, but when I do all the intermittent steps time out and only the last one reports the total time. The only fix is to reboot the computer, which seems to reset the 85-minute clock. I've checked all the network settings numerous times, and I haven't been able to find any discrepancies or problems there. Does anyone on this newsgroup have any idea where I might look? Paul

  • 3. unknown pop-up
Can someone help me with this please? I keep getting a Microsoft Internet Explorer pop-up which states: "Cannot find ". Make sure the path or Internet address is correct." As many times as I click "okay" or close the window it keeps coming back. I have no idea where it came from, what it's referring to or how to get rid of it. I've never had this problem before. Can someone tell me how to get rid of this thing permanently? Thanks.

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on your computer. Please contact your system administrator. This happens when I try to go to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS. I am set up as the site administator. I think I got a virus that changed this, it also keeps changing my start page even after I change it. I can get to INTERNET OPTIONS by going through the control panel. Please help. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by going into the file
called "hosts" in system32\drivers\etc. I just deleted
all the entries, but you might be able to do it by only
deleting the ones that start with ""

I had installed Spyblocker, and it had edited the file,
other programs may do the same. Hope it helps. Peace out.

I had a display picture on my msn messenger page, I updated to msn live

picture dissapeared and I was not able to put it back. All what I see in
Change display picture are choices for dynamic pictures galleries and no
regular pictures that I could choose from. When I chose an image and click OK
a dialog box is informing me that is an invalid image file regardless of what

Microsoft is trying to forcing us into getting an account with a bloatware

4.Picture browsers will not display images.

All program browsers for opening an image have suddenly started showing logos
instead of thumbnail images, even though I check "thumbnails" where available

such as Photoshop CS2, Pictures browser, my web page designer software, etc.

I have a problem getting all the pictures to display in

this problem without luck.

I also habe an error message when running Office XP 2000

Any help about how to fix this would be much
appriciated...I think the GIF problem maybe related to
the firewall in XP Professional can this be turned off?
