"the page can not be displayed"(can't find server or DNS error IE) is the message I get when I try to open one of my favourite sites. The problem started about a week ago. I checked the setting, deleted TIF and History folders,Cookies checked the host file, nothing solved the problem. I've been searching in the KB (884488) the problem stays where it is! There has been no problem in opening any other website. The owner of the page hasn't changed anything, the page gives no problem at all on a friend's computer. Make my day!!!! Joan
  • 2. .csv recognition
Hello, I'm non technical but want to know if something is possible. We use IE6. When we download a .csv file from our Intranet, a save as dialog appears on the screen requesting a filename, the save as type option defaults to 'Comma separated variables(*.csv)'. When you save the file, unless you type 'filename.csv' (without the inverted commas, it is saved in an unrecognised format. Is it possible to get a .csv file recognised so that it will open with Excel? -- Thanks, MarkN
  • 3. Stolen IExplorer
Hi My internet explorer has been hijacked by a website, that proclaimes my computer has a virus even though I have the lasted anti-visrus software and have scan the pc also. But every time I lauch IE, it loads the site's home address with also a popup box with eth esame warning, on the site it lists various anti-virus software that can be purchased to get rid of the virus. I tried changing the home address in the options menu, but it will revert to this site. The only way I can open a site is to load a favourite site than navigate away from it. It has also dropped an icon in my system tray which also tells me about my infected system. the site name is spywarequake.com.
  • 4. Good spam guard
I have been getting a lot of spam that consists of a picture with the spam message and then a bunch of nonsense below it. I have tried blocking senders, but the list is starting to get long. There is no real way in OE6 to filter out this kind of crap. Is there a program that recognizes this junk and eliminates it. I recognize these and could just delete them but want somethign so that I will not have to go through the trouble of inspecting and or blocking senders. Would prefer a freeware solution and dang it that is now something more that I will need to be running in the background. Thanks

I had the same problem. I fixed it by going into the file
called "hosts" in system32\drivers\etc. I just deleted
all the entries, but you might be able to do it by only
deleting the ones that start with "127.0.0.1"

I had installed Spyblocker, and it had edited the file,
other programs may do the same. Hope it helps. Peace out.

2.display picture dissapeared, cannot change display picture

I had a display picture on my msn messenger page, I updated to msn live

picture dissapeared and I was not able to put it back. All what I see in
Change display picture are choices for dynamic pictures galleries and no
regular pictures that I could choose from. When I chose an image and click OK
a dialog box is informing me that is an invalid image file regardless of what

Microsoft is trying to forcing us into getting an account with a bloatware

4.Picture browsers will not display images.

All program browsers for opening an image have suddenly started showing logos
instead of thumbnail images, even though I check "thumbnails" where available
as an option. I want to be able to view actualy image thumbnails in programs
such as Photoshop CS2, Pictures browser, my web page designer software, etc.
These all had been working fine. Any suggestions? I have Vista Home Premium.

5.Some GIF Pictures not displaying in browser

I have a problem getting all the pictures to display in
6.0 like on the MSN main page MSN 8 Gif picture in the
box on the right. I have tried many things to cllear up
this problem without luck.

I also habe an error message when running Office XP 2000
and runing Office about the Marcos not being activated.

Any help about how to fix this would be much
appriciated...I think the GIF problem maybe related to
the firewall in XP Professional can this be turned off?
