  • 1. IE 7.0 on horizon
I'm excited about the upcoming version of Internet Explorer. Other rival browsers might have many appealing features such as tabbed browsing, a download manager, etc. but I just can't quit MS IE. I have tried Firefox (1.0.3), Netscape (7.2), the two main competitors against IE. Result(?): Removing both of them. I enjoyed Firefox for 30 minutes and 10 minutes for Netscape. Those open-source browsers are just not my type. One particular reason is Google Toolbar, which is only available for IE. The new version of IE should include more startling features than its predecessors had. One is a download manager that would help resume broken downloads and integrate all the downloads in one single window, probably also the capability to split the file into many parts to accelerate the speed. Tabbed browsing is not among expectation, since Windows XP allows multiple IE windows to be grouped together. It's similar to tabbed browsing anyway. However, if Microsoft can add that feature in IE, version 7.0 will definitely be the winner.
  • 2. IE: NO Firefox : YES on 1 web site only ???
For the life of me I cannot figure out why I cannot connect to 1 web site with IE6 and I can connect with Firefox fine. I have 3 computers on my network, all running IE 6 and 2 will connect fine, but one refuses to It's a TabletPC XP Pro and all the latest updates... Any ideas ??? Thanks.
  • 3. Some added info
I neglected to mention that if I put the page margins back to 0.5" all around, the header and footer move back into the printable area. Why that happens is a mystery. I did not change the T and B margins when I made the L & R margins 0.3". Possibly this is related to some scaling factor somwhere. So I increased all the margins to 1". The header and footer are fine, but the page now really gets clipped on the right side Also, a solution is to set the printout to landscape mode - that does not clip the right side, and allows the header and footer to stay within the printable area. But I don't want to print a portrait page in landscape mode. This whole scenario seems a bit bizarre to me. Ron Hirsch
  • 4. can't connect to internet
Win 2K machine behind CISCO lan moden/router and Linksys router with ISDN connection can get e mail through Outlook Express and use VPN but IE will no longer connect to Internet. Can ping all sites and ip configuration seems fine. Was running IE5 and have upgraded to IE6 from CD to try to correct. No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by going into the file
called "hosts" in system32\drivers\etc. I just deleted
all the entries, but you might be able to do it by only
deleting the ones that start with ""

I had installed Spyblocker, and it had edited the file,
other programs may do the same. Hope it helps. Peace out.
