  • 1. Click to activate and use this control
One of the last security updates from Microsoft Update made a change to IE6 that causes the need to double click a control in a web page, once to activate it and once to do what it is supposed to do. If you hover the mouse over the control, the control is outlined and the message above appears in the tool tip. What is the setting to turn this off? -- Wayne Morgan

Hi, I've successfully been using the AlphaImageLoader to force transparency in pngs. However, URLs like the following hang the browser. It appears to be processing, but never loads the tranformed image. When I use a png with a simpler URL in the same code, it works fine. The URL looks like this: /RenderServlet?ts=1152754702507&cid=1152750998608-24039671&dpi=31.764706&hlic=%23CC0000&hliid=1.8.2&hliw=0.05&oph=270&opw=349&qa=0.9&vph=8.5&vpw=11.0&vpx=0.10000000149011612&vpy=0.10000000149011612 Does anybody know if there is a length limit on the src property of the filter? Or if one of the characters in my URL might be causing the problem? Thanks!

I am a teacher in Keota Public Schools. One of my student's parents has a content advisor password and cannot get rid of it. She does not know how it got there, so cannot ask anyone for it. How do you get rid of it? Thank you for your reply.

I also suddenly lost ability to search from address bar. Options under IE tools are properly set. Our ISP recently changed - could they have altered winsock or something in registry?
  • 5. Open in New Window with maximized window
When I right click on a hiperlink and select Open in New Window the new window comes up in the wrong size. How can I have this new window always maximized automatically, without maximizing it manually? I know how to control the size of new IE windows, it memorizes the last IE window closed, but it does not work for IE windows opened as above. Thanks, Antonio

Frustrating retype required for "Find (On this page)"

If I visit 250 sites to read copy containing an exact
phrase which I entered into various search engines,
Netscape let me only type that phrase into the "Find"
search in current page box once. Until I searched for a
new search string, that current search phrase appeared by
default for every site visited. Surely there must be a
way Internet Explorer can be made smart enough to do that
too, or is that unavailable? I hate being forced to type
identical search stings in 250 times in a row because the
MS Explorer "Find (On this page)" forgets the current
search pharse every time I go to a different site. Not
only do I ask how to enable that obviously better was of
having it funtion, but I also suggest that if be adopted
as the default setting.
Thanks for your consideration in responding to my request.

3.Where to find Help - very frustrated

Very frustrated,
Where can I find help as to why something (dll) works on Windows Mobile 2003
SE but not on Windows Mobile 2005 (dll)?
My problem is with card services -
    it appears to load LoadLibrary(TEXT("PCMCIA.DLL"))))
then use GetProcAddressW to get function address - they are not NULL
functions always returns with errors in 2005 but not 2003
Can one call MS? If so who and what is the number?
Do I need to do something different in registry?
Currently using
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\PCMCIA\Device-name
    Dll
    Prefix
Do I need the security certificate? (I currently do not need one on 2003)
What Do I need to do to get a response? (I've posted on here several times
in the last couple of months with no responses)

4.Banner at top of page - loads last - frustrating!

On most of my web pages (such as eBay), there is a banner
add that loads after the rest of the page. This typically
takes a couple of seconds and causes the page to jump
down, typically about the time you are hitting a button.
This causes either nothing or the wrong action to occur.
I've eliminated the contents of the ads (from
servedby.advertising.com), but the blank banner still
loads. Any suggestions?

5.separator page prints wrong username - frustrating!!

I have a WinXP Pro sp2 client printing to a Win2K3 print server in my domain,
and the print server is configured to print separator pages for each print
job (so my users can easily find their print jobs). For TWO of them (out of
about 40 total), whenever they send a print job to ANY network printer, MY
USERNAME prints on the separator page, not theirs.

About a month ago I had to install a new printer, and during the
installation I was prompted for a username/pwd that had permissions to the
new printer, so I entered my credentials... but now EVERY print job they send
to ANY printer shows my name.

I've deleted my user profile from their machines, deleted all printers and
rebooted, then reinstalled, NOTHING I do seems to make a difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

6. The page cannot be found page

7. Slow to find find page when typing in the address bar
