  • 1. Debugging IE6 with Visual Studio 2003 tools?
Hello, I've been asking for months for a method to debug IE6 to find out why IE6 will not run under my profile any more. IE6 will run under other profiles. This is all in WinXP Pro. For example, if you run IE6 from the command line IE6 start and then ends with no windows or messages of any kind. I can see iexplore as a process but that as far as it goes. Is there a debugging tool with Visal Studio 2003 in which I could debug(run) iexplore.exe (IE6) and possibly see what IE6 is trying to load if the problem is a plug-in or whatnot with my profile? Thanks, Steve
  • 2. Still looking for a debug method for IE while it loads
Hello, I've been posting many times how to figure what IE is loading or trying to load as it starts up. I could best describe this by as IE loads it would show the path and module it was trying to load. I just want to see all modules external to IE (and internal if poked in IE code) as they load. In this way I might determine what modules, if any, are causing IE from comming up. In this case IE returns no messages nor shows any windows or output of any kind. That is why a debug method I'm describing would allow the identification of failing components. Thanks, Steve Howard
  • 3. slow mp3 download v. netscape
Hi, When I click on a (5 minute) mp3 file, it takes 2-3 minutes before (for me) the QuickTime window pops up and starts downloading. With netscape, QuickTime comes up immediately. At first, I thought IE might be buffering first then playing, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The amount of time QuickTime spends downloading (I can play while it is doing so) is the same in IE or netscape. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.
  • 4. Users changing IE's lan settings
I have some users who log into our windows 2000 server from their windows 2000 pro. - sp4 PCs. They need to access the Internet via their PCs (we have a dsl access) as well as a secure site via VPN software, so the users need to be able to change their automatic configuration settings (Tools, Internet Options ..., Connection tab, Lan Settings) freely. In other words, they should be able to check off the "Use automatic configuration script" box to utlize the address that is entered and uncheck this box to access the Internet when not using the VPN software to access the secure site. Unfortunately, I have not found an easy way to do this other than upgrade their group membership from "domain users" to "domain admins." This obviously create other security issues. Can someone give me a solution to my problem. thanks.
  • 5. E-card URL won't open
Not having received a reply to my post on 3/8, I realized this subject (above) might make more sense than just "E-card". Here is what I was asking before: I sent someone an e-card (he has O.E. and I.E. and so do I), and he said he tried various ways to open it but his computer froze up. Might this be caused by Spyware? I've been helping him with his computer because he's having some visual problems. I haven't had chance yet to go to his house and install some anti-spyware programs. Other URLs that I've sent him he has been able to open OK. This e-card URL was for an American Greetings e-card, it's a reputable site. Or might it be a hosts file situation? A few days ago I had a similar problem, where some URLs would open and others would not and someone kindly told me how to solve that.
