  • 1. Why do I need ActiveX jinstall-1_4-win.....cab Java Plugin for IntExp browser when I have J2EE v1.6 installed ?
On my WinXP system I installed some time ago successfully the well known J2EE v1.6 Java system. When I visit now an Internet web page a Java plugin is required to run some content (applets) IntExp 6 thinks that he needs an ActiveX Java Plugin and asks me if he should load the ActiveX java Plugin jinstall-1_4-windows-i586.cab from Sun server. Ok, I could allow that. But I am wondering why the existing v1.6 J2EE Java installation does not already provide all the necessary system wide Java stuff. Can I tell IntExp to use the existing J2EE installation ? How can I find out if an IntExp has already the Java ActiveX plugin installed and if yes: Which version ? Tom

  • 3. IE & Router problem
I am running Windows XP SP2, IE6, and have been accessing my Internet ISP by a simple (ISP supplied) ADSL modem. I have switched to a D-Link router and now find that i cannot send email (but recieve ok) due to 'host unexepectedly terminated the connection' error. I am also finding it very slow accessing specific web sites. I have checked configs and applied latest router updates; no difference. I have borrowed a NetGear router from a friend; it gives me the same problem. I have connected a laptop running Win2k to both routers; the laptop works fine with both routers. If i switch the XP PC the back to the modem, all works fine again. My conclusion is that i some sort of conflict in the PC that is interfering with the router operation, but what? Any ideas? NB: I have used TCPOptimiser to check MTUs - via router or moden it gives me the same information - max size setting of 1458.
  • 4. locked to a web
What I hate very much is the following: I do a search in Google and get a list of results. Now I want to explore these systematically, but sometimes one of them seems to have locked my browser, so I can't page back anymore to my Google results. The maker of such a page should be shot. How can a humble user prevent this from happening? -- regards, |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/os

While surfing I will occaisionally have a page or ad
that will not close no matter what I do. The page is
there until I shut the computer down.
