  • 1. IE6 error message with Quickbooks
After several years of stable operation, I can no longer open Quickbooks Pro 2001. I get a message saying "This version of QuickBooks requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher" although I have the most current version and updates installed. I then bought QB 2003 -- same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled QB and IE6 twice -- same problem. Intuit tech support is of course of no help at all, saying it is a Microsoft problem and not theirs to solve. The Intuit FAQ indicates the following information for the same error message for IE 5.5: "Possible Cause: Your computer's registry has not been updated to allow QuickBooks to determine which version of MicrosoftInternet Explorer (IE) is installed. Note: If you are using the MicrosoftWindowsXP operating system, this message may indicate that the Windows registry contains some invalid data that is preventing it from updating properly. We suggest that you contact one of the following to resolve this message prior to using QuickBooks: Your system or network administrator (if you have one). The vendor from whom you purchased the Windows XP software or computer system. Microsoft Help & Support. A local computer consultant." Helpful, eh? Any suggestions on how to modify the Windows registry (assuming that is the problem) to allow QB to open would be most appreciated.

  • 4. Help with Windows Update
Hello, I am having a problem updating my Internet Explorer 5.5 using the Windows Update. When I select the Internet Explorer 6 SP 1 it tells me "a previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that installation before running Internet Explorer Setup." I have restarted the computer 500 times and it is not helping. It will let me complete other Windows Updates, but anything to do with IE it errors out. I have tried deleting all the temp files using the Disk Cleanup, and deleted all the of the Temp Internet files in the Internet Tools screen. I have tried using the Add/Remove Windows components and unselecting Internet Explorer. Nothing has work. I am not sure what to do next. Is there a way to completely uninstall IE and then reinstall a fresh copy? Any help is appreciated. If you can please email me any solutions. XXXX@XXXXX.COM Thank you. Chris Turner
  • 5. Script permissions - help
Hello I changed a setting so IE6 would ask before running scripts. I would now like to turn them back on but can't find the location. I believe it was under options/security but it seems not. tia basil

New computer with xp and explorer 6. The tool bars and window size save untill the computer is restarted then they go back to factory settings. Even with the toolbars locked they still change after restart. Where do I start to fix this annoying problem.
