  • 1. HELP: How to Get Accurate Time?
Hi! I am trying to get system time in accurate milliseconds units (for example 582ms). I use the method System.currentTimeMillis() in jdk 1.2.2, on Windows 98 platform. I manage to get accuracy of up to 10 milliseconds units only (for example either 580 ms 0r 590 ms). How can I get higher resolution? Thanks a lot for your advice! Amit
  • 2. jmf question
Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me with a project I'm working on. I'm looking for some sample code or even a few guidelines on how to resize a video or an image file and saving with the new size, through the jmf api.
  • 3. Is it possible to use jikes compiler instead of javaw inside Websphere ?
Is it possible to replace by default the standard javaw.exe compiler inside IBM Websphere (from Sun's jdk) by the (faster) jikes compiler ? If yes, where do I have to set the refering options? Peter
  • 4. Java plugin error
Every time I go to a webpage that uses Java, I keep getting the following error: "Java Plug-in 1.4.2_05 is not installed properly" I've tried uninstalling and re-installing. I've tried repairing my installation. I've tried everything I can think of. Each time I run through the installation, I get no errors and I'm told that everything went smoothly. I can run the "Java Web Start" and run any of the java apps listed therein. But whenever I go to a webpage that requires the plug in, I'm getting the above error and it's becoming quite frustrating. Has anyone else run across this and succeeded in fixing it? I've gone to the Sun site to their Help/FAQ sections but was unable to solve my problem using that information. thnx, Christoph

WebSphere/WebLogic development

Postby Araxes Tharsis » Sun, 15 Feb 2004 08:04:58 GMT

I am thinking in exploring EJBs with the evaluation versions of WebSphere
and WebLogic. Nevertheless, all the documentation I find is about using
WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) or BEA WebLogic Workshop...
For several reasons I don't want to use those particular IDEs, but a general
free tool like NetBeans. Anyone can point me to documentation/tutorials on
developing EJBs/WebServices for these Application Servers without the
associated IDEs?
Thank you very much,
Araes Tharsis

Should be no diffrent than developing EJBs for any other app server. The
only difference would be configuring the app server itself.

Plenty of books out there on developing EJBs.

If you *need* an IDE to develop EJBs, it suggests that you shouldn't be
using an IDE at all. You really should learn the fundamentals of what an EJB
is, perhaps even with a text editor and an open source J2EE container.

WSAD comes with a WAS test environment, which, admittedly, makes it easy to
develop J2EE applications, rather than having to perform a full deploy each
time a change is made outside of the environment.
