Drivers for E1505

  • 1. Suspious Background' T30, OS mis-matched..
I bought a "refurbished" IBM ThinkPad T30 from eBay, in April. A couple things make it seem it's a questionable purchase- the c.o.a. tag on the bottom reads Windows 2000, but it's running XP-pro on screen. And it had the wrong modem-card installed, the seller mailed me another one to put in. I'm wondering if there is a way to check out this pc to see if anything else is messed up, other than sending it to a service shop? It seem's to function ok since the modem card was changed but now and then it has glitches- some were my own errors but some definetly not. I've ran pc-doctor and it tests ok. Just a thought- if all the hardware (guts) is ok, would installing a brand new windows xp be a reasonable idea? I don't trust how this machine was put together. Thanks, Yvonne

I am planning a trip to Stockholm and Berlin from the US in Sept and am thinking of bringing my subnote (Sony Vaio w/XP). I want to be able to read mail, and send and recieve MS Word docs. Does anyone know about Sweden and Germany? Can I connect to the web via hotels? What would I need to do so in terms of cards, etc. Or, should I just look for internet cafes and use info on my floppies? Thanks.

Just got a new Dell D600. Really cool machine. The keyboard is "just OK" (me coming from an IBM TP600E) but overall I am happy with it. Had a question: How do I migrate my address book/folders/messages/etc. from Outlook Express on my TP600E to the new machine? Any help would be GREATLYappreciated. BR

4.Inspiron E1505 Battery Issue

I have an Inspiron E1505 and having a battery issue. The battery wasn'
holding much charge and I followed (now, I know poor) directions t
drain the battery completely by turning off the powersave settings an
letting the battery drain completely.

The AC will charge the battery and the battery will hold a charge fo
about an hour or so but the laptop (neither XP or the BIOS) will no
detect that a battery is installed. If I unplug AC, it will stay o
even though I turned the power save settings back on but it doesn't kno
how much power is left on the battery.

I have checked the tester on the battery and all five lights come on.
Is there any way to fix it so the laptop will detect the charge on th
battery since it all seems to be working except the computer reading th

5.e1505 and wireless card problem

Hi: When I close the lid on my Dell E1505 laptop I occasionally lose
my wireless network connection. Under Power Options in the control
panel I have the system set to Always On with nothing being shutdown
ever. Under the wireless device settings I have the setting "Power
Save Mode" disabled.

I really want to work with this laptop lid closed most of the time
(have external monitor and keyboard) but can't for the life of me
figure out why the wireless is dropping out when I close the lid. With
lid up it works flawlessly.

Running XP Pro SP2. The wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN
