    hello, what transmit power does have the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (and what 2915ABG)? I can't find it on the inet. Sometimes there is mentioned 20 dbm (100mW), sometimes 50mW and some other values. Maybe the tx-power of the card can be changed somehow ? -- super

  • 3. No BIOS on booting ?
    Hi, I have a LG LS50-8 laptop. Had it just over a year. Centrino 1.7, 1Gb of RAM. Last night while playing a game the screen started cycling through colours - i.e the whole screen turned fro Red to Blue to Green etc I assumed that it was because the graphics card (ATI Radeon 9700) started to overheat. The laptop usually shuts down when there is overheating. (It was very hot) So I turned off the computer (as I couldn't get back into Windows). I then went to restart and it and it didn't get to BIOS (POST), just a blank screen no BIOS startup/vendor logo screen. CD-ROM spins up. CPU fan is on and Hard Drive light momentarily flicks on, but no HDD movement. Will try a CD Boot tonight just in case its the HDD. So any ideas what the problem might be here ? Any suggested solutions ? Thanks in advance. Jason.
  • 4. Presario R3000Z won't shut down all the way
    When I shut down or hibernate, it is completely normal except that at the end of the process the power light never goes out - it blinks slowly. If I press and hold it for 5 seconds THEN it goes out. If I never turn it off this way (manually) the computer continues to run, i.e. consume battery power until the battery is dead. I have gone so far as to completely reinstall Windows (xp-home) and flash the BIOS with no resolution. Any ideas? Bad power supply??
  • 5. Toshiba 4600 Pointer Drift
    Sometimes when using the eraser head pointer it "drifts" upwards. I have read some posts where people have replaced the keyboard to repair this and I've read others about it being a software issue. I doubt the second for some reason. Just curious if there is a 'quick fix,' or should the keyboard be replaced? Steve

I have a new (6 mos old) hp pavilion ze4315us which is loaded with
windows XP, and the touchpad buttons have never worked correctly.
Originally, the left-click was ok, but now neither works...

The touchpad pointer works, scroll up/down works, and even the "tap"
select/open functionality works.

I have checked settings and the buttons are not disabled.
I have downloaded and installed the latest driver from synaptics.
I have reset BIOS
I have reset touchpad settings.

How can I tell if this is a hardware problem, or just a setting
somewhere I haven't been able to find yet?

Hi,

Every once in a while, even the best company can make a lemon. If this box
is still under warranty, have HP work on it.  Something brand new shouldn't
becausing this much grief. I wish you well -Linnette

I'm boggled by this one....

I have a 3 week old hp dv1650ca laptop.

The touchpad worked fine until yesterday.

After not using the touchpad for 1/2 a day, the left touchpad button
stopped working .

The 'tapping' option also stopped working.

I have updated the driver, bios, done a power drain, system restore,
talked to someone at hp who told me to do a complete system
recovery...I would really like to avoid this.

The strange thing is, when I change to a left handed configuration, the
'tapping' feature works and the physical right button works, but the
physical left button still doesn't work.

I cannot get virtual scrolling to work at all, though I wasn't using
that before anyways.

Between the time the button was last working, and when it stopped
working, I upgraded to directx 9, installed and played video games
using my usual usb mouse...I don't know how this would affect it, but
its all I can think of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

David, did you fix the problem? I have the same problem.

I got a brand new A10. When I came to play with the touchpad setting,
I found that the browser gestures didn't work. I'm pretty sure that
all I've installed is Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, plus
the following Windows Updates:

3.Emulate center button on 2 button Synaptic touchpad? 

I have a Compaq VR3015 laptop running Win XP SP3.  I used to be able
to press both touchpad buttons which would emulate a middle button on
the mouse.  Some months ago this stopped working and literally all the
searches and research I have done has not provided any working
solutions to this inconvenience.

Therefore, I was wondering if any laptop users reading this might know
of the trick to make this happen (again)?  I've been through the mouse
setup and the Synaptic settings and properties without any luck.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.  Thanks

4.Laptop mouse buttons not working 

Hi guys,
I got a new laptop recently but the middle (scroller) button on the touch 
pad doesn't do anything. Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I've tried 
the general mouse settings but didn't see anything there.

5.laptop power button not working 

Hi
I have a toshiba satellite pro laptop.
It used to work before :)

Then it used to work but would freeze after a while :)

Now, it doesn't work at all :)

When I plug in the power cable, the green power indicator LED
comes on. But, when I press the power button nothing happens :(
There is no change. So I tried out the following:-

1) Charge battery fully, then try.   - Doesn't work

2) Unplug battery, unplug power cable, keep power button pressed
   for 60 seconds to reset the capacitors before retrying - Doesn't
work

3) Plug in power cable, press power button for 30 seconds,
   (it should go off. It didn't), then retry - Doesn't work

4) Tighten RAM in slot, and put it in different slot - Doesn't work

5) Remove HDD and retry - Doesn't work.

6) Remove casing and press power button on motherboard - Doesn't work

What else can I do? Is the laptop dead? Or can I fix it?
