Three applications for making disc labels

,----[ Quote ]
| Making labels for DVDs and their cases is an often overlooked task. Many
| discs are lucky to have some terse information quickly scrawled on them after
| burning. But there are some fine open source applications available for
| creating labels for CD-ROM and DVD disks and printing jewel case inserts,
| including gLabels, kover, and cdlabelgen.

Testing the Linux Waters - Live CD vs Dual Boot

,----[ Quote ]
| There are some people whose interest in Linux is borne out of mere curiosity.
| And a good number of them can muster enough courage to go all the way right
| away. That is, to outright replace their Windows working environment with
| Linux. It is understandable that they would prefer a setup wherein they can
| continue working in the environment that they are familiar with and be able
| to try out Linux during their spare time. Luckily, these people have a couple
| of options: a Live CD or a Dual Boot System.
|
| Live CD
|
| Live CD are bootable compact disks that allow you to explore the features
| of an operating system (in this case, Linux) as if you were in that
| particular OS. To use, you simply load the Live CD into your optical drive,
| boot up your PC, and presto! You be on your way to your first Linux
| experience.

Well I would like to recommend _Koverartist_ because it's the easiest to
use and most flexible application to create CD/DVD labels and cases.
Besides its easy to use interface it has quite some nice extra features,
for text and bitmaps and of course CDDB support.

It's more or less like the GIMP, it takes a little while to get used to
its interface but once your used to it, you will never look back.

Cheers

The racist, liar and software thief Gary Stewart (flatfish) nymshifted:

Not yet. The lightscribe libraries are present since quite some time, by all
means, integrate them in Koverartist if you feel the need.
Note though that Koverartist ist meant to do the *covers* and not the disk
themselves. This might explain why its authors don't seem to see a pressing
need for that

I sometimes write lightscribe media. With linux

I don't know, what does your little troll book for dummies say you should
do in this case ?

I dont have that book Terry. What does your "Showing off for total
{*filter*}s" book tell you to do? Add an extra "x" on the command line
parameters for extra "leetness"?

Why TF do you think anyone in this group would be interested in the
output of some distro specific install script?

I know why you think it. And that is why you are a total idiot.

In the real world, no one cares. They want to press "Install" and have
it say "done".

Get a grip man.
