  • 1. Aztech ADSL modem
Hi, I know this question has probably been asked oh like what? a million times? But I was wondering if anyone managed to get an Aztech ADSL Turbo 100 (USB) modem working in Red hat 9. I've been trying to get that modem working for so long already. If anyone did, could you tell me how you did it? Cos' this is driving me nuts! And I want to be able to access the net from my linux instead of using windows everytime I need to get online. I hope someone can help me here and I greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks in advance from, TDR
  • 2. Binding a process to a specific processor.
Good morning and greetings from San Diego; I hope this is the right group to post this request in. We're using Redhat 7.3, kernel 2.4.20-SMP_i686, glibc 2.2.5. Now, here's where it gets sticky. We' write custom software to talk to our machines. In our software, there are several different programs (and processes) that run. For instance, we have a barcode process, an inspecter process, a material handling process, etc. The issue that we're having is that when we start our main program, it starts all of the sub processes and they get assigned to a processor at random (dual processors). I need to know, if there is a way to assign a specific program to a specific process. We're using C++, gcc-3.2. Again, we start our main program (which is called ui 'user interface') and it in turn starts eight different progrrams. I need to be able to assign these programs to a specific processor. Reason being, when these programs are running, they pass messages back and forth and on a dual processor system, our messages are getting clobbered. Of course, on a single processor system, life is good. Any help would be great, or you can just point me off in the right direction. If I can't get some help pretty quick (like within a few hours) I'm going to have to resort to using a MySQL database for passing messages around. Thanks in advance. -brian XXXX@XXXXX.COM

Hello

You do not need to mount audio CDs to play them. They do not have a file
system anyway, so unless you use cdfs (which is not included in most
distributions as far as I know), you also cannot mount them. If you use
KDE, you can use Konqueror's audiocd support for this (type "audiocd:/"
in the address bar if you configured it properly in the KDE control
center). Or you simply start some player like xmms or noatun to play
the CD.

best regards

I just bought a new CD burner, Sony CD-RW CRX320E. I'm running
Slackware 10.0 with kernel 2.4.26. I installed the drive and it reads
CDs, but when I try to burn CDs it gives me errors. It can't run in DAO,
so I tried TAO. It then gives me a buffer underrun error. It then
gives me unknown errors. Does anyone know if this drive works in kernel
2.4 or do I need 2.6?

5.DVD player AND CD Burner - SVCD Videos not accessible in Suse 8.2

I am using Suse 8.2 with Xine or kmplayer and watching movies on DVD
works fine without problems. But i cannot watch movies on SVCD. When
starting Xine or kmplayer to start the SVCD movie, Xine just hangs and
kmplayer does not do anything.
I heard that there might be such problems with Suse 8.2 when there are a
DVD player AND a CD burner installed in the PC - as it is the case in my
PC.
In another PC where there is just one DVD player installed, SVCD movies
can be watched without problems with Suse 8.2 and Xine ...
I have not found a solution yet. Does anyone have an idea ???

Axel
