  • 1. Cannot mount NFS
Hi, I have a strange problem on my laptop when trying to mount NFS filesystems. The NFS server I try to connect to is not the problem: other Linux boxes can mount the NFS-drives without any problem. Nor is a firewall running on the laptop. The only difference between the laptop and the other machines is that the laptop switches regularly... but that can hardly be the problem... I have narrowed it down to tpc/portmapper on the laptop: # rpcinfo -t localhost nfs program 100003 version 2 ready and waiting program 100003 version 3 ready and waiting program 100003 version 4 ready and waiting # rpcinfo -u localhost nfs program 100003 version 2 ready and waiting program 100003 version 3 ready and waiting program 100003 version 4 ready and waiting # rpcinfo -p localhost rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper: rpcinfo: RPC: Timed out And that's as far as I get. Can anyone tell me what I need to check next? -- gr, maxx :wq!
  • 2. Forwarding with iptables
I have a fedora machine that contains 1 interface and I would like to be able to have it accept a connection for port X and perform port forwarding to another IP on a seperate port. I know I can do this with SSH port forwarding; however, I am limited to not being able to SSH tunnel the connection. How would I create an iptables entry to do this? An example would be: Fedora (port 119 - NNTP) | accepts connection v ISP NNTP (port 119) Because my ISP requires the connection to originate from it's network, this is one reason I would like to mask the connection if that is possible.

Postby luciano.cavallero » Tue, 05 Jul 2005 18:35:27 GMT

Hi,

I've a problem with the remote exec deamon (rexecd or in.rexecd).
The deamon it starts, but if I try with rexec to send a remote command,
it
response me always 'Login Incorrect'. I've tried with alla users of the
system but the result is the same.

Do someone know where 'rexecd' deamon look for authentication?

Thanks,
Chano.

1.idFTP.Login - Login incorrect

Hi, we are developing a freeware FTP-software with Delphi 7 Personal
and Indy9 and have a big problem with Indy9.
There are problems with the Login at a few servers - not all.
First we thought it is something in our software, so we took a nw
Delphi Project and added just a TIdFTP
with the direct input of username, password, servername but there is
the same problem.
That's why we think that it is a problem f Indy9.

If we use the command IdFTP.login the username is sent and then its
asked for the password.
After sending it there is a message that the Login is incorrect. But
in another FTP software it works
with the same user, pass, server.
We tried several servers and sometimes we have the problem, sometimes
not.

I hope there is someone who can help us...

Thanks

We have a redhat 9 system installed in a i686. We tried installing

5.OpenBSD root login incorrect

Hello, I am a migrating user and have just finished installing OpenBSD 3.5
without any problems. I have rebooted the system, dmesg looks good, and now
I want to login as `root' to start configuring my new OpenBSD system;

On the login prompt I type `root' [without the quotation marks of course]
but then in return I get the message `login incorrect'. After trying to
login several times and recieving the same `login incorrect' message, I
tried to login with ssh as root but that didn't work also.

Anyone any idea's, comments or constructive suggestions ??

This is a new, fresh install, no problems whatsoever during the install,
everything went according to the OpenbSD install guide.

THnkx a lot.. From a new OpenBSD user.. !!

J.
