• 1. Only patrial export of inbox in E v. X
I have posted several items about this problem client, but the short is he has a 3.8GB DB in Entourage v. X I deleted about 4000 emails, leaving him only with the last 3 months worth of email in his inbox. I then tried a rebuild on the database and it never completes - returns the same error as the attempts before deleting the 4000 emails: The database could not be rebuilt because there is not enough room on the disk to create the new database files. And there is plenty of room on the hard disk. So I exported (drag and drop all his folders to .mbox files), created him a new Identity and imported all the .mbox files and everything worked great, except the inbox.mbox. Even though there are 3 months worth of emails in the old identity for the export, only a handful of emails (20 or so) make it into the new Identity. It seems to be a problem with the drag and drop, creating the inbox.mbox (for it consistently is only 18.1MB). For now he is switching back and forth between Identities to access his old email, but does anyone have any tips on how to actually export the entire (3 months) inbox to the new Identity?
  • 2. POP/smtp problems? In need of a more informed opinion than my own...
Out of nowhere yesterday Entourage stopped sending mail. I am receiving mail correctly, but anything I try to send just hangs out in my Out box. When I try to close Entourage, it asked me if I am sure I want to close since there is 'a network operation in progress.' I am assuming this means that Entourage is sending the mail, its just not going anywhere. I would assume this is a problem with our provider, but mine is the only account having issues, and I am the only one using Entourage. I have deleted my account and set it up again three times and nothing. All the ports are correct and the settings are where they should be. Anyone have any idea what else I can try? Thanks! Stephanie
  • 3. Different timezone issue
Ok, after applying 11.2.5 update, the timezone on the calendar items is still messed up. In my case, my Entourage timezone is set to EDT and I am currently on the west coast (PDT). When I create a new calendar event, I get a warning banner saying that "Your computers timezone: West Central Africa" which is not correct. The event appears on the calendar correctly, and I believe that the reminders arrive correctly. But I find it astonishing that MS cannot get this right. ET

Hello.

I would like to know if there is a way to delete a message from the spam folder without Entourage 2008 asking me if I am sure I want to delete the message.

Basically, I would like to select a message in the spam folder and click on delete and not have a dialog box pop up.

Thank you.

1.Three problems: Preparing to Send Messages popup and spam folder won't empty, and messages duplicate

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: imap

I'm running into three problems: The first is one I hoped would have disappeared when I upgraded from 2004 to 2008 a couple months ago. At seemingly random (or maybe incremental?) times, I get a dialogue box that pops up that says "Preparing to Send Messages" that I imagine uploads messages from my desktop to the server or something like that. But the number keeps getting bigger and it often occurs when I'm in the middle of typing an e-mail and interrupts what I'm working on because the problem is locked up when I do this. Also, new to v. 2008, if I'm using a different program the process brings Entourage into focus and interrupts what I'm doing in the other stuff I'm working on.

2. My IMAP spam folder keeps getting more and more messages that won't delete. They disappear from my online IMAP account, so they're not actually still "officially" existing in that folder, and I can run through the Empty Junk Mail options, Repair Message List options, and Refresh Message List options and nothing happens with any of them. I can't even mark them all as read.

3. When I move messages from my main inbox folder to an archive folder, the messages duplicate. My mail provider says it's not happening on their end, and it doesn't happen with my Apple mail client, which I use at home with the same account, which means it must be Entourage. Ideas?

4.My deleted messages - not showing up in Deleted Folder

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

When I delete an EMAIL that has been read - meaning - it's now marked as read - it's gone; purged - in one keystroke. If I delete an unread message - it goes to the deleted folder like it should.

I need to keep my deleted emails until I purge them. I cannot find a setting anywhere on this. My mail is all POP3.

Help!

I have a number of messages in my Deleted Folder that do not clear.
Some are about a year old. I have gone to Tools-Schedules-Clear
Folder, but this has had no effect on the persistant old messages.
