  • 1. Microsoft Office slowdown
I have some sort of problem--my computer is working fine, but after running Norton, Word and Entourage are sloooooow--and Entourage won't get mail. I've trashed the preferences, removed office, reinstalled office, started from a brand new Microsoft User Data folder--and the problem keeps coming back. When I logout and log back in as a different user, the problems disappear, so I know there's something in my home directory that's causing the problem, but I don't know which file to delete. Can someone suggest what I should do? Thanks David Averbach UC Berkeley
  • 2. VBA template problems with OSX
Hi We have a normal template set up that contains VBA code that runs specific templates from the Templates folder when a button is selected on a toolbar. This has worked fine in OSX when logged on as a local user. We have just started testing network home folders and now have problems running the templates. When logged in as a network user and selecting a template button Word will run a template first time but then just keep unexpectatly quitting. Any ides? • 3. Creating PDFs
Hi, Please help me create a PDF from a Word file, for my Word help menu does not have any info on this topic. In addition, I had no luck with the Acrobat help menu instructions, for everything they suggested didn't work. I am running Word 2001 (Office 2001) and Acrobat 5.0 on a beige Macintosh G3 with OS9. Per Acrobat's help instructions, I chose the AdobePS driver in my chooser and when I subsequently dropped Word files onto the Create Adobe PDF icon, I got error messages stating, "This document cannot print because of an error. Files may be missing or damaged. Error = -2807." I also tried Acrobat's other directions stating that I should choose file>page setup in Word, then from the printer pop-up menu, select Create Adobe PDF -- but no printer pop-up menu exists when I try this! In addition, I have been told that I should be able to find a macro for doing so where macros are stored in Word, but the macro isn't there. I have also been told that I should have a file menu named "Create PDF file" in Word, but the menu isn't there. I really need to learn how to create a PDF from a Word file. Please help me. Thanks!
  • 4. AutoTextList Field
Hi, I've created a drop down list, using an AutoTextList field code. The problem is that the items in the list contains text that has at least two different colours per line. When I test the drop down list and insert various entries, sometimes colour shows up where it's suppose to and at other times it doesn't. I'm not even sure if it's possible to have different coloured words that are on the same line, as part of an AutoTextList drop down menu. If anyone is familiar with this field code, I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance. Seraya
  • 5. Mac to PC Conversion
Have had a Mac .doc Word file sent to me via email. It opens cleanly on 2 of the 3 computers I use but the third cannot translate it. It comes up with the Select Encoding screen. The 2 systems that work are running Win2K and Office XP patched to the SP-2 level and the system that does not work is running a fully patched Windows XP and Office XP to SP-2. All systems have deen installed with all converters (as far as I can see). The one that does not work I isntalled as a custom install and I installed everything except the online tutorials. The systems that work recognise that there is a data and a resource fork. Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

how to install 2008 version bypassing old version of word on new computer

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hello, <br><br>I bought a new iMac recently along with Word for Mac 2008 upgrade. The word software stated that an older version must pre-exisit on the computer for the new version to be install. My older versions are 'Word 2004 upgrade', 'Word X upgrade' then finally 'Word 2001'. Do I need to install all the old softwares in sequential order so I can install the Mac 2008 upgrade (and then delete the older versions later)? Incidentally, my 'Word X upgrade' and 'Word 2001' are registered with Microsoft, but 'Word 2004' upgrade is purchased right before my previous Mac died so I did not get a chance to register Word 2004 upgrade. <br><br>Thanks for any input or advice, <br><br>George

You need not actually *install* either of the older versions. When you're
prompted for the location during the installation of 2008 pop one of the
other source disks into the drive & point the Installer to it.
