  • 1. one user, multiple colors in track changes
Hello- I'm sitting here at my computer, and my computer is suddenly switching the track changes color on me. (its set to "automatic.") I started on blue, and when i put the cursor on the changes, i can see that its attributed to me/my computer. Suddenly it will switch colors, and when i put the cursor on it, its attributed to "unknown." i didn't restart my computer or shut down word or anything...it just shifted colors. I"m working in footnotes, and it seems to sometimes be triggered when i'm typing and then delete something in the footnotes....sometimes the deletion will go back to the original blue. whats going on here? thanks. amy
  • 2. Intermittent printing problems with Word
I have the IMAC G5 10.3.7 and am using a HP Officejet 6110 all-in-one printer. About one out of five times I go to print the printer stops printing in the middle of the last page. I called HP and they tried everything and narrowed the problem down to a Microsoft Word problem. Has anyone else had this problem???? Thanks, S
  • 3. "Save As" Word 2004 files gives XP permission issue
Here's the problem. A shared folder located on a PC running XP Professional (NTFS formatted) is being accessed over a wireless LAN by a G4 iBook running 10.3.8 via SMB/CIFS. When saving newly created documents (Word & Excel files) to the shared folder on the PC there are no problems. When an already created document (that lives in the shared folder) is opened and is then "saved as" to the folder 4 times out of 5 you get a dialog box that says "Word cannot save this document due to a naming or permission error on the destination volume". (The Mac user prefers to open both Word 2004 & Excel 2004 files over the network instead of copying them to the Mac first and then open them and subsequently.) If the user tries several times it may save OK to the directory. Note-each time the "save as" fails a Word temporary file is left in the same directory. Simple file sharing on the PC was turned on initially but while troubleshooting this issue was turned off allowing more precise permission configuration. Even with the least stringent permissions turned on "allowing "Everyone" read/write access to the shared folder the permission problem persists. I've seen some posts but I didn't see any that had resolutions for the issue other than copying the file first to the Mac's Desktop and opening it and then saving it back to the PC shared folder. Thanks for any input.
  • 4. Hiding zero values
Hey All! Happy Thursday, first day of no rain in quite some time... I've created a simple invoice form using tables and automatic calculations and I'd like to keep the zero's in the total column hidden until they have a value higher than zero. The invoice form has 8 line items but if a person has say only 3 items they need to bill for, they don't want the zero's for the last 5 of the 8 to show on the form. Is there any way I can keep these fields hidden until they're greater than zero? Thank you!! Diane

Patterns for Object Fill Effects Do Not Remain in Place

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have been using Word on a PC for years and just bought a Mac. I installed Office 2008 and have found a glitch I can't seem to figure out. <br><br>When I go to format an Auto Shape with a pattern, I can get the pattern and colors that I want to show in my document. I can even click the "Save" button and show the object properly in "Print Preview." But, when I close the document and reopen it, the pattern defaults to the upper left pattern of choices which is the 5% polka dot pattern. The colors and lines are proper, but it always switches back to that upper left pattern. The "Pattern" tab is the only issue. Gradients and textures all save properly and reappear properly when the file is reopened. <br><br>What would cause the pattern to always default to the upper left pattern? <br><br>Thanks in advance

The AutoShape Defaults are not saved.

It's a bug sorry about that. You will have to set them every time you
create or open a document.

Cheers

I have read all there is on the website and tried all suggestions but still not happy with outcomes. <br><br>Does anyone know if the is an add-in for fill patterns for 2008 version of excel like there is for the PC office 2007?

2.Fill Effects Patterns

Many thanks to Bob Buckland for responding to my question about printing fill
effect patterns.
Sorry to say that his suggestion did not solve the problem as it does not
appear possible to alter the dpi of my printer and to confuse matters further
I have discovered that printing in fastdraft - 300dpi - produces a smaller
fill than normal or best - 600dpi.
I am also confused as to why, if I copy and paste into Paint Shop Pro and
print out the bitmap image, it is the correct size.

3.Printing fill effect patterns.

I am trying to produce some simple designs using autoshapes containing
pattern fill effects in Word (XP Pro 2003 ).
When I print them out on my HP 5650 printer they have twice as many "dots"
per inch as they have on screen.
Can anyone suggest why this is happening?
I vaguely remember reading something somewhere that it might be due to the
printer resolution - 600+dpi. If this is the case, is it possible to alter
the printer resolution or do I have to buy a new printer.

4.Make scrapbooking pattern fill effects like large dots

5.Pattern fill effects

I am using XP professional 2003 and an HP 5650 deskjet
printer.

I am having trouble printing pattern fill effects in Word
and Publisher. They are printing out with twice as many
shapes to the inch than appear on screen.

It has been suggested that this is a printer driver
problem. If so there are quite a few printers around with
the same problem as mine because I have tried a number of
computers running XP but connected to different model
printers to mine and I get the same result. A friend who
found fill effects printed out more or less to the screen
size was using an Epson printer and another friend using
an early version of XP and an HP1215 printer got the
correct size.

Would some of you out there running XP please try printing
out a pattern fill effect to see what result you get and
with what printer. I am curious to know whether this is a
common problem or exclusively mine and I am trying to
establish whether it is actually a printer driver issue or
a problem within XP, before I go to the bother of
uninstalling my printer drivers and downloading new ones.
