  • 1. Korean proofing tool?
I have a problem of Korean proofing tool in Word 2004. Even though I did not use any of Korean text in the document, Compatibility Report keeps complaining that "Korean proofing tools are not installed". Explanation says "This documents contains Korean text. Word cannot check spelling and grammar on Korean text unless the Korean proofing tools are installed." My first thought was, well, I would install Korean proofing tool. And it was not that easy. It seems that Microsoft has not yet released Korean proofing tool yet, although its Windows version has had it for long time. So, here are my two questions. First, is it truly impossible -as for now-to get the Korean proofing tool for Word 2004 for Mac? Second, if it is impossible, how can I detect the Korean text in the document? I guess I have tried everything I knew (including select all, change the font, copy, and paste in new document), but in vain. Please help me stop Compatibility Report whining!!!
  • 2. Saving a setting for a document and template no matter who opens i
----Saving a setting for a document and template no matter who opens it (and no matter what their normal.dot template specifies)---- Hello all, I need to know if setting the Tools>Options > check spelling as you type while working in a particular document... will save for just that document, or for all documents ever opened from that computer. i.e is the setting a.. document setting, or a user profile setting, or a template setting? How do I make Word always 'check spelling as you type' for EVERY document opened and created, without having to set the option for every document?I'm guessing I set my own normal.dot template this way. This is fine for me...but on a network level like SharePoint when many people may look at one document, just say my normal.dot says to 'check spelling...', but their normal.dot doesn't have it checked, is there any way I can make it so at least that particular document has the option set? i.e can i save the setting to the document itself, not just to normal.dot? Thank you,
  • 3. suppressing blank fields when merging from excel
I'm working in Word 2004 and Excel (2000 from a PC). I am creating an alphabetical directory for my son's school. I have a number of fields where there isn't always data (i.e., dad's cell #). In formatting my main document, I want to have headings for these phone number data that would identify what each phone number is, but I don't want to have to manually eliminate those headings where there is no data for the field. Is there programming that I can write that will allow me to tell the merge that if the (field) is blank, don't print the heading, or if the (field) has info, print the heading. In other words, I want to print: Cell # (Dad): <cell_dad>, where <cell_dad> has a number in it, and not print: Cell #(Dad): if <cell_dad> is blank. In my head it seems simple, but I can't figure out how to do it. Any help out there?
  • 4. Drawing toolbar freezes Word
Even after reinstalling Office 2004 for Mac, whenever I try to open the drawing toolbar, the Word program freezes and I must use the force quit. I have an iBook G4, using OS 10.4.10 Thanks a lot! (P.S. If you also know why the Microsoft Mail Received sounds go nonstop whenever I open a news server, I'd most appreciate hearing from you!)
  • 5. Table of Authorities
Hello folks, I am trying to wrap my mind around Table of Authorities. The Word Help and some online sources have been helpful, but I have not found an answer to this question. Is it possible to create more than one short citation, which gets picked up for the ToA, for a single long citation? If it is possible, how do I get it done? TIA mudjud OS X 10.4.10 Office 2004 all updates applied

Set default FAX number

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I would like to add a default FAX number in the Preferences -> User Information section, but the telephone entry for FAX number is grayed out. I have no idea how to set this -- without it, all templates that use this field are not filled in appropriately.

As far as I can tell, you can't set this value in Word. I can do it here
in Entourage. If I go into the Mac file system and open the Entourage
entry that has changed, the Mac Address Book program starts and I can
edit the value there, but I have a feeling that this only works because
I have Entourage and am syncing it with Address Book.

1.Default Column Number Setting Set to 2, not 1

Hello--Whenever I open up Word 2002 my default Column
number setting is set to 2(under Format/Columns), not 1
as I would like and no matter how many times I change it
to 1, the next time I open up Word it goes back to 2.
Any ideas?

2.Using mail merge and fax to different fax number

Currently I am using mail merge to print client's outstanding payment
statement and then fax it manually to them.

Is there a faster way for me to do the mail merge and faxing the statement
using macro?

Thank you.

3.Sending faxes to many fax numbers.

We have our fax capabilities through our SBS 2003 server. The fax
transmission(s) will go through the servers modem port. I have a list of
contacts with fax numbers in Outlook on one of our our client desktop (folder
is private and not shared). I want to fax a word document to all our clients
in one of our contact folders on this clients system.

The only way I see in doing this is in Word, use Send To "reciept using fax
modem" but it wants me to select individual contacts with fax numbers in the
folder. I need to be able to select all the fax numbers in the folder at once
since there is 2800 of them. I guess this is called a "Fax Blast"

Is there a plug in of some sort for Word or something in the SBS2k3 server I
should be working with?

Thanks,
Greg
