Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a teacher that gets the message "Clip gallery user database failed to open" every time she tries to insert clip art in Word or PowerPoint. I have already tried to trash the preferences (and empty the trash) for the clip gallery in the user's library and I have tried repairing her permissions. If logged in as another user, the clip gallery works fine. This is driving me CRAZY and I really need to move on to other support issues. Please help!

My keyboard no longer responds with a new document or an existing document in Word 2004. The keyboard works fine in all other programs. I can push any keys I choose, but no typing on the document occurs. The mouse works fine. The programs was working fine several days ago, and now it does not.<br> <br> I went and completely uninstalled all of the Office programs, reinstalled my Office:2004 CD and downloaded/installed the updates. I am now running Word 11.3.8.<br> <br> What else can I do? is there a setting that needs to be changed? Is there a file somewhere that is corrupt? I am at a total loss with Word and can not use this program now. - 3. 2008 Mac and Windows compatibility issue?
Using Word 2008 for Macintosh, I received a Word for Windows (97-2004) .doc from a client, edited it and sent it back to the client, who added some new changes and sent it back to me again. I saved the document as a new file, accepted all the changes, made some new ones and sent it back again, etc., and repeated this process about five times in total. When I got the last file from the client, I accepted all the changes, then used Compare Documents to show all the cumulative changes with the original document. I saved the new file as a Word 97-2004 Document (.doc), as I had been doing all along, but this time the client couldn't open the file. The only way I could get them to view it was by opening the file in Word 2004, doing the Compare Documents there and saving that file. Is this a bug in Word 2008 or am I doing something wrong? Charles - 4. Just installed 2008. Word docs are changing letters to letters they should not be?!! Help.
I just installed 2008 and when I open any of my saved word documents the word doc has screwed up letters I will correct them and then save it and then when I open it again the same letters are screwed up again. Help! What is going on?

Try searching for and deleting all instances of " Clip Gallery User Database". We can't really tell from that error whether it's not working because it's corrupted, because office can't find it, or because it's really not there. Hello, One of the teachers at my school is running Office 2008 on a MacBook with OS X.5.5. WHen she tried to add clip art by selecting insert->picture->clip art, she gets a message stating that the clip art gallery database failed to open. I have tried deleting preferences, throwing out the Microsoft User Data folder, uninstalling and reinstalling office, but yet the issue persists. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

5.delete duplicate clip art images in Microsoft Clip Gallery
I have downloaded many images (from the MS site) into Word 97's Clip Gallery. Unfortunately, I've discovered that a lot of the clips were actually duplicates of already-existing clips. As a result, the Clip Gallery takes about 90 seconds to load, and it's driving me bonkers! How can I EFFICIENTLY remove the duplicate clips from the Gallery? Thanks!!
