Running Mac OS 10.6 with Mac Office 2008 12.2, clip art gallery would crash whenever I started it from an Office application. All I had to do to remedy this was close all office applications and delete everything from /Users/<my user>/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/ Office/Clipart/Personal/

  • 4. Unable to use most fonts when using Czech keyboard layout
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Selecting Czech keyboard layout in Apple > System Preferences > Language & Text > Input Sources prevents me from using most fonts installed on my system to either edit or write new text in Word 2008. Regardless of what method I use to select a font, it always returns into Times New Roman. The only way to actually use a different font is to write something in Times New Roman, select the text and then apply a different font to it. This is, obviously, far from desirable. The only exception are some legacy Central European fonts whose names end in "CE". As far as I know, this used to be the old nomenclature to distinguish between type faces which contained Czech (and other Central Europe specific) diacritics in the 1990s. For over a decade (since Windows 95) most fonts have contained all the necessary characters and diacritics for several locales / keyboard layouts. There is no other Mac application that would cause this sort of problems with fonts at the moment. I am using OpenOffice and iWork on the same Mac without any problems whatsoever. So far, the only way of using Word normally is to use US keyboard layout. If I select that, I am able to choose and use any of the fonts installed on my computer. However, US keyboard does not have the necessary diacritics. Has anyone encountered the same problem - and more importantly, found a solution to it?

Pinning file locations when opening files in word 2007

Postby U29hcHk » Sun, 22 Jun 2008 02:30:01 GMT

When I clicked the OPEN dialogue box in Word on the top right side there were
little tools that allowed changing the appearance of the layout. There was
also a tool called ADD TO FAVORITES that allowed me to "pin" a folder on the
left sidebar.

This allowed for FAST finding of specific folders without having to scroll
through file manger as I have to in 07,

Is there a way to accomplish the above? This is a BIGGY, as I find it takes
me forever to find files. I have to scroll all over the place because I nest
folders pretty deeply.

Thanks

Sorry, youe landed in a MacWord group (not your fault, one of the web
interfaces is *very* badly designed). You might get an answer from the
people here who use both Windows and Mac, but you should try asking your
question on the general Word newsgroups. Start here:

thanks for telling me. I would have been waiting for an answer a long time.

AND, thanks for the link. Now I can find where I should be looking.

Yeah, that link is *way* easier than the main portal, except it only
does Office programs, not all programs. You're welcome.

2.Cannot open Word or Excel 2007 from PIN location or recently used

I am unable to start word or excel from the recently used program area of the
start menu or after pinning it in same location. Having to go start/all
programs/microsoft office/ etc is getting a bit tedious.

Any suggestions?
