  • 1. Bought Student Edition by mistake--OPPS!
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel I just realized today that I bought the student edition after having the software installed on my mac and been using for about a month now. I was told by the company that sold us the software that this is the FULL version-which it is; however, I need Exchange Server support for my business. I am a little upset but thought there must be a way around this. Does anyone know if Microsoft has a way of letting people buy the next license to update the student edition? I will be calling Microsoft tomorrow but wanted to have some information before I called them. Thanks for the help! Anything helps! Thanks, Joshua
  • 2. 'Incorrect username/password' error, even though both are correct!
Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I've installed a G5 running Tiger on a network in our London offices, it's the first Mac I've put in there. It auto-configured its net connection, MSN and shared drives without me doing a thing - but Entourage hasn't been so simple. As with my own set up back at base I have configured Entourage to pick up mail from the server (Windows Server 2000) using POP but here it's not working (I've tried using Exchange too - without luck) I just keep getting an 'Incorrect username/password' error. I even got admin to check POP support on the server and reset the password for the mail account - all the info is 100% spot on - but it still refuses to pick up mail and insists the username or password is wrong... even though I know that to be untrue! Anyone got any thoughts what the underlying cause might be? Thanks, Tom

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel When using any Office application, they won't print if I press apple P or go to File/print. I never get to the print dialog window. It will hang for 5-15 seconds then I get the spinning beach ball. Then I have to force quit the program. I tried just waiting one time and then all other programs started to hang. I can print by clicking on the print button in the toolbar. I have trashed preferences and repaired permissions. Any other ideas?

Install Office for Mac 2008 without Excel 2008

Postby elf03 » Sat, 18 Jul 2009 02:33:11 GMT

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I currently use Office for Mac 2004, and because of my work, must continue to use Excel 2004 with its support for VBA.

I am interested in upgrading Word, PowerPoint and Entourage. Is it possible to install just Office for Mac 2008 WITHOUT installing Excel 2008?

Any help is appreciated!

You can install Office 2008 with Excel, and keep Office 2004 Excel. They
will work fine together.

Adding to Bob's advice. If you select to do a custom install, updating in
the future could be problematic. The actual applications take up very little
room. Just because they are installed, doesn't mean you have to use them.

Excel is 54.9 MB

1.Coping charts from Excel 2008 and resizing them in PowerPoint 2008 on a Mac

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

To whom it may concern,

I have a problem with coping charts from excel to powerpoint. In the previous version I would copy the chart, ungroup it, resize, adjust font size and position the way I wanted it to be in the presentation. Now in 2008 it is impossible.

I tried coping it (cmd+c and then cmd+v). But I cannot resize the chart so that it fits on the slide. There is always sth going missing. My chart has a table as 'category axis label'. When I make the whole chart smaller, the graph gets so smal that almost invisible and the label stays the same. Or part of the label dissappeares. I tried to change the size of the font on the chart, but then size of every single letter gets changed (I want the title, the legend and the axis labels of different size).

I tried to save the graph as a picture (I tried with all available formats), but then the graph is blurry and the slide when projected is not readable to the audience

I tried 'pasting special' (all possibilities), but it doesn't make any change. The quality of the picture is crap. I tried pasting the graph through preview application but it doesn't help.

Is there anything else I can do apart from going back to the previous version of Office.

2.Problems Installing Mac Office 2008 Home/Student Over Mac Office 2008 Trial

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Tried to install Mac Office 2008 Home/Student over an expired Mac Office 2008 Trial and ran into problems, when the application downloaded and tried to install Office 2008 12.2.0. MS Mac Support indicated that I needed to reinstall Snow Leopard. Thought that this was a bizarre solution. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Does anyone have a workaround that they can recommend? Appreciate any and all prompt responses. Many Thanks.

3.Using Excel in Mac office 2004 with Microsoft/Mac 2008:Analysis toolpack

Although I am disappointed with Office 2008 for Mac because of the
absent of
Analysis toolpack, I figured things out quite recently that I can
install my Mac office 2004 and use the excel package that contains the
Analysis tool pack. How? ...... let me show you:

1. Insert your CD for Mac office 2004
2. When it open on your desk top, two options will be given to you to
download the software
    (a) Office set-up assistant, and (b) Microsoft office 2004.
3. CHOOSE MICROSOFT OFFICE 2004 (Drag the icon onto your desk top) and
will start to run/download.
4. When done, this will appear as a file, so, you can keep it in your
DOCUMENTS folder and use it whenever you want.

It works OK and you can do all your analysis here and still use your
version without any problem. I hope this works for you too!!
