I think that you have been missing the whole point of Muahman's posts
(from his point of view).

He's here solely to stir up reaction, as if it's the only sort of social
interaction he's able to deal with. He was doing the same thing in the
past; he's just not been around for a number of months previous to
starting this string.

He's done the same sort of thing in various sport fora; sometimes
posting as Brian Pratt, and other names, but with the same sort of
confrontational attitude. At least this time, he's not gone off on any
diaper-related tears, so far.

Which is most likely a few hundred less than what you paid for it.

You REALLY ought to learn something about Mac apps before making
yourself look foolish.

That's true. Especially since one of the best (MT Newswatcher) is free.

MT Newswatcher has pretty extensive filtering. And it sets the insertion point
at the end of the text instead of at the top.

Yeah, with MTNW I'm restricted to looking at it the way I want to.

Seconded. Go get yourself fitted for a saddle, Donald.

But it's not. OSX has the biggest learning curve of any OS. You can't put a
new user on a Mac, they won't even be able to get online. On Windows you see
something called "INTERNET explorer". So right away if you are looking for
the Internet you start right there. If you are on a Mac, you be lost. What
does a Safari have to do with the Internet. Apple is awesome with the eye
candy of OSX, no doubt, but Windows is certainly 100 times easier to use,
especially for a new user.

It's a sensible decision given that literally every time I've mentioned
Usenet to a non-techie I've had to explain what it is. (This has
happened to me a couple of dozen times now.)

Let's see. You walk up to your new $1.99 Windows machine and you launch

don't think too good do you Pratt?

Well, I'm not so sure. If they bundled MT Newswatcher, for example, it
would be hidden in the Applications folder like a lot of other stuff
that never gets used. It would be beneficial for some users and wouldn't
hurt others.

I've never used it. What does it do that is better than
other newsreaders?

The best newsreader that I've encountered is slrn. I'm just
too lazy to configure it for Solaris.
For filtering, it is the best.

Sorry, but you can't put a neophyte in front of XP either.
I know... I've already tried it.
All he could say was it was too much computer for him to
use.
I think OS X would've been a bit easier for him, but the XP
experience left him bitter about computers as a whole.

I think it's much easier to follow threads than the typical 3 pane
newsreader.

I ask you one question: Which is worse, insulting an OS (which is
just bits on a hard drive), or insulting a person (who is made in the

From my reading of his posts under "MuahMan", I have come to the same
conclusion. If you don't want to see his words, simply kill-file him.

However, for my part, I rather enjoy confrontation. It gives me an
opportunity to sharpen my writing skills (not the best, I admit).

By the way, I acted like a fool, and went against my own advice this
morning, and insulted him a little. After all, he's such a big target,
it's kind of hard to leave him alone. And he gives honest men a bad
image. He needs taking down more than a little. Maybe he will finally
grow up somewhat.
