  • 1. What's the closest to MacDraw these days? [EazyDraw]
I loved MacDraw... then SuperPaint (which included a "draw" layer and a "paint" layer. Alas, both are history. I recently needed to do an office layout, and REALLY wished I still had MacDraw> I did a search and found a program called EazyDraw, which worked very well for me. It's got a generous trial period. Download it and give it a try. fishfry < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message news:< XXXX@XXXXX.COM >... > I need a simple little drawing program. • 2. mail not forwarding url
When I receive a message with a url and try to forward the message, the url address is lost and the receipient cannot click on the url to get to the relavent page. The text is there but the url character is lost. This is a particular problem when the url is not a real address but a text message. If the url is an address the text is preserved but must be copied and pasted into the broswer address field. No clicking on the url for automatic navigation to the address. This is using os 10.2 mail program Any ideas what might be happening?
  • 3. Sound Check option in iTunes 4.6
I have a few questions about the Sound Check feature of iTunes 4.6, where it sets the sound playback volume to the same level. I understand that if you check that option, it goes through your existing library and performs that feature for every song. But what if you turn it off again? Do all the songs go back to their original levels again? Do these levels carry over to the iPod? I assume this feature makes no permanent change to the files, but I wanted to check to be sure. Also, if a particular song's original level was very low, does it get distorted when set to the relatively higher level of other songs (Sting's "....Nothing Like the Sun" comes to mind). TIA
  • 4. Suitable Replacement For SimpleText???
I took a look on versiontracker but didn't really see a suitable version for my needs. I do admit that there were too many hits for my search so I just skimmed the list. I am working with text files I create from text off of web pages. The text is mainly tab seperated information, and a bit of the text is colored. Later I use the text files to import into both a database and a spreadsheet. I need something that will open a text file, read/display the colored text properly, allow simple editing (nothing fancy, just deleting what I don't want), and then saving as text again. Saving as text should be the default so I am not presented a dialog box everytime I save. TextEdit fails miserably. It opens the text file alright, but doesn't read the color, and then after editing won't allow the file to be saved as text...why it's called "Text"Edit is beyond me, completely useless application IMHO. Simple text still works under classic, but it's just a matter of time before it no longer does (classic won't be around forever). So I figured it would be better to start looking now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Tommy

Permission Email Receiving Application??

Postby F. Hayek » Wed, 04 Aug 2004 06:58:10 GMT

I saw an interesting PC product called ChoiceMail for email screening.
It's sorta like caller ID for email. With this application people can't
send you email unless their email address is know to your ChoiceMail
enhanced email client. If they are not known they get a auto-response
requesting that they identify themselves and explain a brief reason for
contacting you, which involves filling out a form and copying a number
that they see on the form. Anybody know of anything like this for Mac?

I've been using a PC app called "Zaep" (from http://www.**--****.com/ ) and
it's quite nice. Does the challenge/response thing, automatic whitelisting
to people you send email to, easy to use and configure, etc etc etc. Good
stuff. I don't see any reason it wouldn't run in a PC Anywhere session.

Well, I'd check sourceforge & see if anyone is using procmail to do something
like this. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with. Might look at SpamAssassin
also.

On Friday I suddenly was no longer able to receive emails thru Entourage but was able to send them. My IT guys are not very mac savvy so after a serach I found that you could empty the cache and that seemed to fix it this morning. Now, however, i can no longer either send or receive. When trying to send an email i got an error that said "HTTP error. The server could not fulfill the request" at the bottom is said Error:-18500.

Any suggestions for how to resolve this?

3.Not receiving all emails, about 10% receiving.

From previous thread it states:
1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

Road Runner advises that if the settings were not correct I would get no mail and would have error messages. I can both receive and send but am not receiving much. Assume my sent mail is going out okay. People have responded.

1. I get no error messages.
2. There is nothing in junk mail file.
3. The "Include this account in my Send & Receive All schedule"
box is checked? (I only have one email account.)

I've added the five email addresses that I am not getting mail from in my address book: There may be other problems but the critical problems are from:
1. XXXX@XXXXX.COM --- there were about 35 emails today from our course. I received two. (I am already two days behind on my classwork.)
2. XXXX@XXXXX.COM --- I think I'm getting most of these but not sure.
3. XXXX@XXXXX.COM --- this averages about 20-30 a day. I've received only two.
4. XXXX@XXXXX.COM I think I'm getting most of these but not sure.
5. XXXX@XXXXX.COM Don't think any was sent from this today.

ACFW has checked everything from their end and can not find any problem. I can both send and receive from their tech support. They feel it is involved with the spam filter or junk mail surveillance.

Any suggestions.

4.email address list/ annotations to a received email

I am relatively new to entourage and there are two features that are available in outlook that I really miss. I am wondering if there is some way to do these two tasks in entourage.
1. Set up an email address group so that individual addresses do not have to be added to an email circular each time you send it to the same group of people.
2. When replying to a multi point email by annotating the original email I would like to have my comments/amendments highlighted in a different colour to the original so the responses readily stand out from the original. I know this can be done by changing the font colour for every response but it would be much more simple if the changes were highlighted automatically.

I followed the account setup assistant and get the following message:

Verifying incoming (POP3) mail account "gallati_reto" on "mail.gallati.ch":

Verifying outgoing (SMTP) mail account "gallati_reto" on "mail.gallati.ch":

Some of your account settings are incorrect. Click the left arrow and verify the items highlighted in red. To complete setup without verifying your account settings, click the right arrow.

I receive the messages without any problems but it seems not to recognize that I have internet.

Any help is appreciated. Best, Reto
