Hi All! I need some information regarding MCAD certification and which book i should study? Reagrds, Ashish Chandra
  • 2. advice 70-305... help!
I'm trying to finish up my MCAD and have passed 70-310 and 70-306. I'm studying on my own 70-305 with about 5 books including Gunderloy's, Microsoft's, and some non-exam ASP.net books by Apress and Sams. I thought I had understood the material well enough to pass 70-305 but have failed twice. I used MS course 2310 online to study and still the questions were overwhelming. It was more difficult than I anticipated. Would a course from one of the better known private career centers help? If so which one would anyone recommend and why? I of course need to pass before the 70-305 and MCAD is discontinued. I started in 2006 with 70-306, took 70-310 in 2007. If I pass 70-305 in a couple of months am I still MCAD? Thanks! Brockus

  • 4. MCAD Expires on March 31, 2009
Dear All, I am just an exam away from getting my MCAD, today i saw on Microsoft.com that the exams towards achieving MCAD will expire on the above date. I need your advice with: 1. Would it be worth sitting the remaining exam and obtain MCAD (.Net 1.1 which might be considerd very old now)? 2. If i drop the MCAD route and focus on MCTS, specifically Exam 70-536, does this mean i have lost the two exams i have already done or is there any way of upgrading? Cheers, Tom

How long for Transcript to update?

Postby neil.weller » Sat, 20 May 2006 21:15:22 GMT

Folks,

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me here. I passed my
final exam for MCAD yesterday, I actually have:

70-300
70-315
70-316
70-320

(I know I don't need 300 for MCAD)

Anyway, my transcript has updated and now shows that I have passed the
exam, but it still only shows me as MCP. The certification planner
shows me as having fulfilled MCAD so I am wondering what is going on.

I am guessing that maybe they have some batch process that runs that
will update that part but I just wondered if anyone has a firm idea.

Thanks,
Neil

Sorry folks, ignore this, just found an answer already in the forum, it
is a different process that needs to run.

If you don't mind, please post that answer so that we all know.

I did. It is a different process that needs to run.

It appears that there is one job that updates the transcript with the
fact that the exam has been passed. Then another one runs about 24
hours later which updates the certification status. Roughly.

So by Monday it should reflect that I am now MCAD. I'll post
confrimation when it appears.

Actually, is less than 24 hours. It has just updated.

Good luck for two weeks time! How did you find 70-300?

It was the one I was most worried about but actually found the easiest.
As long as you have done plenty of analysis work then it is straight
forward.

The big thing about it was that the time was split over the case
studies and once the case study was done the time was gone. Even if
you had time left.

Well I have been designing and developing software for 10 years so should
not find it a problem, hopefully! The only thing I am fairly new to, is UML.

Thanks for the tips.

Simon.

Simon,

Trying to remember but I seem to recall that the only UML that came up
were some USE CASE diargams. I cannot recall any sequence, class or
other UML diagrams coming up.

Besides, if you do see any diagrams they will be completed and to be
honest UML diagrams are easy to read anyway.

Good luck,
Neil

Hi Simon,

To get an idea about what it is required to pass 70-300 just browse the
MSPress book on this subject, which more or less has the same content as the
MOC 2710.
