  • 1. I passed 316 - How did you prepare?
Jackie, I just took the 70-229 exam and failed. I scored a 514 with a passing score of 700. What does that mean? How close was it? Is a max 1000? Whatever. How did you prepare for 316 and pass? I read the Microsoft Press MCAD/MCSE/MCDBA SQL Server 2000 Self-Paced training kit and did all of the exercises. I get all of the questions right on the readiness review pre-test, and I paid for the MeasureUp pre-test and get all of their questions right too. I feel frustrated and like I've thrown away nearly $250 and now I can't even see why I missed the exam questions. I don't want this to happen again and I still have all three exams to go before I earn my MCAD. Do you have any reccomendations? Thanks, TC
  • 2. How specific
Kalani's 70-316 book has a question kind of like this: "Your RichTextBox control won't display the horizontal scroll bar, even though you have set scroll bars = ForceBoth. Why not?" The answer is that the horizontal scrollbar won't display if word wrap is on. Ok, so I read this, and think: This is a pretty obscure little behavior. Do I need to know this level of detail to pass this exam? There are about 40 controls, averaging 20 properties on each, so that's thousands of little nuggets I'm going to have to memorize. And that's just one chapter. Or is it more like "What control can be used to display word-processor like behavior, with text decorations, etc.". Or is it somewhere in between, like "What property of the RichTextBox will return the string with all the formatting codes in it? Regards, Dean
  • 3. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE DATABASE
Hi: I have just begun my prep for 70-315. I am using the book by Jeff webb (Microsoft). I get the error (see Note below) when going through Chapter 5>Lesson 1: a simple web application to connect to a DB, create a dataset and use databinding to display the data set. I have very limited experience with Databases/SQL Server. I am not referencing any "master" DB in my webapp. I am trying to access the contacts table in contacts.mdf. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, mrv ========================= Note: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. 2/3 of the way there!

Well last week I passed 70-310, and yesterday I passed 70-305 (next week Im
doing 306). I kept putting it off as I thought I wasn't ready, but to be
honest I found both exams very easy, in fact the exam-sim's I had been using
were far more difficult (which I attribute to poorly worded questions!). So,
if you are holding off, I would advise that you just go for it! :)

Congratulations!!

I too have found the same. After working with .NET for around 3yrs I have
finally decided to get certified and the questions are not that hard. I
found 70-316 more difficult than the PrepLogic and book questions and just
scrapped though mind!! but a pass is a pass. But I found 70-320 very easy,
as I have been architecting software infrastructures for 6 yrs on Microsoft
platforms.

Good luck for your next exam!
Simon.

Congrats! I am taking 305 Sat. What exam simulations did you use?

Once I pass 305 I will only have 310 left. I am kind of scared about that
one...

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Jamie,

Though i am not aware of your level of expertise and exposure in .NET
which might be far more better than me , I felt quite relieving to know that
you found the two exams easy as i am planning to appear for these two exmas
very shortly and am quite nervous about passing them. Could you please give
me some suggestions on how to prepare for these exams , so that i will pass
:-)
