On a side note, I don't believe you should be saving encrypted passwords in your database. Rather you should be saving hash representations of passwords of authenticated users that will be compared against user-submitted hashed passwords. Reverse cryptography is then eliminated. If you have access, take a look at how it is performed in Commerce Server 2002. Admittedly, I have no knowledge of the software you are developing or why you are developing it this way. • 3. Passed 70-306 today!
I just passed 70-306 today. Study Materials: Microsoft Press MCAD/MCSD Training Kit for 70-306 Microsoft Press ADO.NET Step by Step MSDN Also, I downloaded the Visual Basic.NET Resource Kit and went through it. Basically, you need to understand all the material in the above books and go through MSDN to get further details on topics not covered that well in the MS Press books. Some areas that could use more info are (Security, Deployment, and upgrading from VB 6). The practice questions in the MS Press books are not at all representitave of the exam questions. The exam questions are much harder. Also, it is mandatory that you develop an app or two using VS.NET. The best way to learn is by hands on experience. Hope this helps! Remeber though, this is how I did it. There are also other ways, so get more advice from other people who have passed the test. Im sure there are better books out there! Good Luck!
  • 4. Prometric Self Test Exams
    >Can anybody throw some light on the SelfTest exams that >prometric pramotes. Would like to know how useful those >exams are and how close to the actual exam. I did 70-305 this afternoon (and passed) and tried the SelfTest exams as well as the exams that came with the Self Paced training kit from MSPress. The SelfTest exams were nothing like the real exam. They were a lot harder - both in how the questions were asked as well as the answers you had to give. The exam questions that came with the trainingkit were basically the questions I got in the real exam. There were even a few of them that I literally did in the practicetest. I'm glad though - because in the SelfTest exams I never scored higher then 62% (even 36% this morning right before the real exam.... :X), while constantly scoring around the 72% in the MSPress exams. I finally passed with a score of 819 (my guess that that means 82%, but i'm not sure. Passingscore was 700.)

Hello everybody,

I passed 70-316 and 70-320. Now I need to pass 1 elective exam to complete
MCAD, but I don't know which one of 70-229 or 70-315 to choose. To my mind
the 70-315 is the best choice because it is a part of ASP.NET and 70-320 and
70-315 are cover the ASP.NET technology.

I would suggest you to take 70-315 itself for your MCAD, because since
you have already finished 70-320 and 70-316 it would be easy for you to
do 70-315 and more over 70-229 is rather difficult when compared with
other exams

Thank you for your advice. I'll order to practice test 70-315 from MeasureUp.

glad to read this becuase I feel that 70-229 is indeed harder then the core
MCAD exams I took. I am doing 70-229 for MCSD track and took it for granted
now I have all this time invested and feel the need to finish up. Orginally I
wasnt even going to bother with MCSD, now I almost wished I hadnt.
