Use Advanced Register. Go to Account List More pull-out Categories & Payees, then go to Categories. The View pull-down at the top lets you see Categories and Subcategories. The buttons at the bottom let you manage the list. See also the less than 24-hour old thread "Money 2007 add/delete Category".
1.Remove Investments Without Removing Account
There are Investments showing on my Home Page, that are closed accounts. Since they are closed accounts I don't want to see them unless I want to access their accounts or reclassify them as open accounts. How do I remove them from the Investment Summary or any watch investment page without removing the actual account itself. I am using Money2004 on a Windows Home XP OS. Thanks. Frank
2.Categories, Budget and Category Groups?
I am new to Money 2007 Premium and am a little stumped by the category/subcategory/category group model, the defaults available and the relation to my Budget. I was about to assign my rent a category when I noticed that I was able to choose either Mortgage/Rent (Rent Bill) or Bills-Rent (Rent Bill). Why would they both exist by default? I see that the Mortgage/Rent category is an "Essential" category, but why would switching to "Advanced" give me two of the same? What long-term effect is this decision going to have and what is the rationale for having two options for what essentially seems to be the same exact expense? It seems natural to throw every bill under Bills-?, but at the same time I can appreciate that there may be a benefit to keeping items at the category level (although that seems to be the dummed down way to go given that "Advanced" insinuates that it is more intricate). I also have no idea what extra purpose that Category Group serves. How will all of this impact my budget? Thanks!
3.split category and sub-category
Money 2005 How do I get it so that the category and sub-category are split (two seperate fields)? I had it setup that way, but after updating to 2005, it's back to a single field. The same thing happened last time I updated Money, but I forgot where the setting was (or it's moved or not there now).
4.Reports By Category Groups rather than Category
I have many categories such as "Gas" that are under category "groups" such as "Automobile". I want to view expenses by these groups rather than the too granular categories. Know how I can do this? Do I have to instead create sub categories under the main Automobile category? thanks
5.Money 04, w/Groups, categories and sub-categories!
I posted this query before, but for some reason, (5) posts came up! I must have goofed somehere, and I now worry that readers may have felt that I did it for attention. Not so! HONESTLY! Anyway, is there a way I can remove the Groups and let ME decide where each category and sub-category can be placed? If I had that flexibility I should be quite appreciative! Thanks very much
