  • 1. Approach queries VS Access queries
Hi, We are migrating from approach to access. My basic understanding of the procedure is that the data has to be migrated and all the other features like forms and reports have to be recreated. Is 'Approach query' different from MS Access query? Can this be assumed to be replaced by Access query? cheers, Nuti
  • 2. bookmarks in form.
Hi, I have a subform with an enormous list of properties according to projects that was selected in an second form. This works fine. Because its a great list (this has to stay this way) i want above it a listbox with the different chapters so that the user can click on the chapter he/she wants to see. My question is: is it possible to scroll a form using VB or something like bookmarks in WORD or FrontPage. -- thanks, Stefan

Access 2003, turn off macro warnings - help please

Postby BigMrC » Sat, 25 Oct 2003 05:15:31 GMT

I have a screen on my main database that has command buttons which open
up various other mdb Access databases. All databases are in the same
folder on each person's C-drive within the network, but the folders
aren't called the same thing. The way I found before to open up a
database from a command line was to use a hyperlink as you don't have
to specify the folder name if it's within the same folder.
With Access 2003 it brings up constant security warnings when using
hyperlinks to access other databases (even with macro security set to
low)
So what is the alternative code for opening another mdb database within
the same folder on C drive without specifying the folder name?
Or
How do you disable these hyperlink security warnings?
thanks

Welcome to the bleeding edge. I brought this up during beta, and AFAIK,
there is no cure for this. You could create a command button and use
FollowHyperlink to get around it. It really is stupid...they allow
FollowHyperlink, which is hidden from the user, but put up warnings from
visible hyperlinks.

CurrentProject.Path gives the pathname of the directory the database is
in. For example:

?CurrentProject.Path
I:\MyAccess2K\A2KDatabases

"I:\MyAccess2K\A2KDatabases" is the directory where my database is stored.

1.Access 2003 runtime mode-can't turn off warning messages for macro

In Access 2003 I turn off all the warning messages in the Edit/Find tab under
Tools + Options for my data base. I then package it with the Access 2003
Developer Extensions Tools Wizard into a .dme runtime package. When I run
it on another computer other than mine, a computer with Access on it or one
without Access on it, I get all the warning messages for macros and queries,
as if I never turned off the Warning messages in the Edit/Find tab. Any
ideas??

2.Turn off warnings in Access 2003 runtime

Hi
The MSDN people have refused to send me the Windows Component Update for
Office XP Developer, or let me download it. So I've moved onto Office 2003
and left the database in Access 2000 format. However, I get the warning
everytime "file may not be safe", then the user must click Open or Cancel.
If they had the full version of Access, I could select Tools/Macro/Security
and set it to low. How can I get around this on machines with only the
runtime version?
Also, some PCs get the warning about unsafe expresssions, even after
I've installed Jet 8. Any ideas on this?
Thanks

3.How do I turn off prompts for security warnings in Access 2003

Each time I load my database in Access 2003 I am prompted for : 1) unsafe
expressions and 2) upgrade to Jet SP 8.0.

How can I turn these off?

4.How turn off security warning in Access 2003

I upgraded to MS Office 2003 and now when I load my mdb files I get an
annoying message about unsafe expressions.

I am current on all my updates.

How do I turn this off?

5.2003 Security Warning won't turn off UPDATE

The software was installed by the Administrator. At the Administrator level
the software does show on the menu \Tools\Macro\Security and it is set to
Low.

However when I sign-on as user and open the database, I still get the
message about unsafe expressions. The Tools\Macro portion of thge menu
apppears but Security doesn't show - not at all, not even grayed out.
According to Microsoft:
How to disable sandbox mode
Follow these steps to disable sandbox mode:

1.. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security.
2.. Click the Security Level tab, and then click Low.
  3.. Click OK.
  4.. Restart Access.
Note At this security level, macros are always enabled when you open files.

Note Disabling the sandbox mode setting applies to all users of the
computer.

So since the Administrator set the level to Low and it is supposed to apply
to all users, why am I still getting this message?
