On 7/16/03 4:16 PM, in article XXXX@XXXXX.COM , "Scott" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > Scott, That CLSID number is a GUID (Globally Unique Identifier), which to my knowledge doesn't exist in Office for the Macintosh. If you're using the Windows version of Excel, you'll find more help in the microsoft.public.excel newsgroups - we're Mac guys here! Jason Kelly Mac Excel Testing
> If there's nothing in there, I would start deleting preference files in Well, I've got the same problems, and it works if I delete the 2nd and/or the 3rd file you mentionned. Only problem, the file is automatically created again by Excel, so back to the beginning, i.e. same error. I thought about logging as root from the command line, create an empty with the same name, and make it read-only for everyone, including root. I thought that should solve the problem. Unfortunately, Excel managed to changed (!!) the permissions on that file, and overwrite it with its own version. So back to the beginning. Any more ideas? Thanks Alexis
Alexis I'm having the same problem and haven't been able to find a solution yet. I am running OS X 10.2.6 and a fully updated version of Office v. X. I only experience the problem when opening an Excel file by double-clicking it - launching Excel from the dock open the program as expected and without an error. Jesse
Thanks for the answer, but opening a file containing macros always fail, regardless of how Excel was opened.
Alexis wrote : Have you tried uninstalling Office using the "Remove Office Tool" (to be found on the CD - Value Pack Folder), then reinstall Office from scratch, apply the 10.1.2 and 10.1.4 updates and repair permissions ? I was having the exact same problem Alexis described, right down to the class id number. Removing the Preference file Carbon Registration Database fixed the problem for one launch of Excel, but on subsequent launches I kept getting the "Class not registered" dialog box. After an hour of unsuccessful testing, I opted for the Office reinstall option earlier this evening. I saved all my Preference files, sans Carbon Registraton Database, and placed them back in the Preferences folder. Excel is now running without a hitch. Martin
I would have posted this to the thread about this but apparently Google won't let me do that. Something about the last message being more than a month old. We had the same problem with someone trying to startup Excel 10 under MacOS X.2.8 and getting the following error. Microsoft Visual Basic Class not registered. Looking for object with CLSID: {AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9F68-00A00574A4F} We tried things like deleting the entire ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft folder but it didn't help. Neither did several reinstallation of Office. Evenually we discovered that the /Applications/Microsoft Office X/Office/Startup/Excel/ directory wasn't empty. It contained PDFMaker.XLA a file helpfully placed there by Acrobat 6. We've removed it and the problem seems to have gone away. The interesting part will be that Acrobat has a self repair feature so we'll see if it puts the little {*filter*} back next time we run Acrobat 6.0. Will let you know if it does. Skip

I get this error message. I tried removing the preferences and it still happens. Any ideas?
2.Getting Object Library Not Registered - Microsoft Visual Basic
When I open up Excel XP (2002), I am getting this error. I recently installed Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard and thought this may have caused the problem. None of the normal plug-ins from the adobe software were visible on excel tool bar. I un-installed the application and am still getting the same error. I should mention I also have a version of Excel 2000 on my computer, which opens with no errors and works with the adobe acrobat 6.0 plug-ins. Please advise how I can resolve this issue , so I stop getting the error message and can use adobe 6.0 within excel xp.

5.DVZAddin.dll file not found error from Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Basic
Problem: you start a Microsoft Office application, or exit one, and you get an error box that tells you that the system can't find a file calld DVZAddin.dll. Analysis: You have, or did have, Documents to Go installed. DVZAddin.dll and similarly named files, such as DVZXLAddin.dll, are part of Documents to Go. Office knows about them because they are referenced in an Office template, called DVZAddin.dot. Uninstalling Documents to Go does not always remove the DTG Office templates. Possible solution: Check for DVZAddin.dot and similarly named template files in the Office STARTUP directories. Find them and rename, move or delete them. There may be more than one of them. In my case, they were in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\STARTUP and/or C:\Documents and Settings\rbethune\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP I run Office 2003. I hope this helps!
