  • 1. help with charting in excel
I am fairly new at this so sorry if this is an obvious answer. I have created a spreadsheet with the following columns: Payee, Date and Amount Paid. It is simple, functional and working fine. I want to be able to create a chart so that i can easily view the amount paid by each Payee, and the percentage that each Payee represents the total amount of revenue. My problem is this: when i set up the chart, i am using a pie graph, and if Joe Smith plumbing is listed 10 different times(all different dates of course), the pie graph will show Joe Smith plumbing 10 separate times. What is what to do is create a chart where each payee is combined under one header, with a summary of the total amount paid by that payee. This is similar to what u can view in Quicken or Money. Does this make sense? Thanks for everyone's help........AL

I am doing a project for Chemistry. I need to know how to put two graphs on one axis, and how to create the "bars and whiskers" used to show error. Thanks for your help.

We should be able to time scale the X axis in PivotChart Reports. Pivot Charts are very usefull. I don't see any good reason to lose the time scale propety while doing a PivotChart Report.
  • 4. Blanks chart as zeros
Hi All...... I have a Line Chart wherein all cells in my source data that are blank, ( as result of a formula resulting in ""), all plot as ZERO, and I would like them to just be nothing, not charted.......I do not want them interpolated and the one before and the one after just joined......I do not want NA in the cells because I use them for other formulas.........I go to Tools > Options > Chart tab, and no matter which option I select under "Plot empty cells as", I STILL get them plotted as ZERO's...... The only way I've been able to get them to plot correctly is to actually copy a "real" blank cell over to it......is this the only way, please? TIA Vaya con Dios, Chuck, CABGx3

Excel log graph with PARTIAL CYCLE

Postby makolber » Wed, 11 Feb 2009 06:41:05 GMT

I want a x axis log plot with the range of x from say 20 to 200.

I know how to create the log grapgh, no problem there, but Excel seems
to require full cycles..

in other words I can do 10 to 1000,

 but not 20 to 1000
 and not 10 to 200
 and not 20 to 200.

Any ideas?

thanks

Mark

It's all about mocking up the scales and values.

Check out Tushar Mehta's PDF "flexible-log-scale" here:

Jon Peltier also gives some ideas here:

Hi,

You are going to have to fake it, because this is the way Excel works.

1.How do I make a graph with 2-cycle X 3-cycle log-log graph paper?

I need to create a graph that uses 2-cycle by 3-cycle log-log graph paper. I

with it for an hour, I have been unable to figure out how to do it. Any

3.Trying to make a log-log graph

I'm trying to make a log-log graph using excel, and I can't figure out how to
change the x axis to log scale. Its not an option in the "format axis"
window, and I have no clue how to go about doing it. I'm using Excel 2000,
and the data range for the x axis is from 9.35E-4 to 2.40E-3.

4.Bar Graphs, Semi-Log Graphs

Dear Friends,

I have the Millennium 2000 edition of Excel and I can't
figure out how to make
a) bar graphs of one variable vs. time. (all the options
seem to be for two variables.)
b) semi-logarithmic graphs.

With my previous computer I had the Excel that went with
Windows 95, and the Chart Wizard had options you could
check for either one variable bar graphs or for semi-log
graphs. In the Millennium 2000 I don't find either of
these options with the Chart Wizard.

Question No. 1: At the bookstore I see an expensive
upgrade I can purchase to upgrade Millennium to Windows
XP. Does this upgrade have the charting capabilities at
least as good as those of Windows 95, or are they degraded
to the level of those in Millennium 2000?

Question No. 2: Why would Microsoft degrade a very useful
Chart Wizard in Windows 95 to the much less useful one of
Millennium 2000?

With thanks and best wishes, I am,

Sincerely,
