Hello all, Is there another way to back up an Excel file, besides the AutoRecover settings in Options and the Always Create Backup feature in the General Options of Save As? What I am looking to do is to create a backup copy automatically in a directory that I want (other than the directory where the original is). Thanks.

RE: pasted HTML text disappears

Thanks Jean_Guy

That was the first thing I thought too, but the font is black on a white
background.
To double check, I tried to pasted it into a .doc and it pasted fine.

However, in EXCEL, I have to double click the mouse to get the text to
appear.

I just noiticed that when I do that, most of the options, on the standard
options toolbar, selected from the "View," go gray.

Opening "View," on the Menu, when the only choice that isn't gray is
"toolbars.".

For the cell that keeps hiding, at the input box at the top of the page,
where a "=" is entered to indicate the cell contains a formula is active and
shows, an X, a check mark, and the = sign.

However, for the cells that show text, that area is gray and empty. When I
select one of those cells, all the options that gray out when the "blank" row
that contains a header and has to be double clicked to get it to show, return.

So, we are still unsolved on this problem. Oh, I also checked to see if
anyting was hidden and it wasn't.

More help is needed to figure out how to simply paste the headers in a cell,
without having them disappear unless I double click the cell and keep the
curson in it.

Thanks, Bob

1.Trying to paste in text like "01" from HTML table as text not numb

I have a table I want to paste into excel. There are some codes likes like
"01", "01a", "01b", (quotes are not in html table). This should all be text,
but Excel keeps converting "01" to general format, and displaying as "1".
This is making it difficult to use pivot tables, and displaying correctly.
What can I do?

2.Trying to paste in text like "01" from HTML table as text not

I need the data to save in separate columns, as it is in the table. When I
paste as text, it ends up in one column, which is worse.

3.HTML code disappears when cut & paste into code

There is a website that I believe was created with Front Page 5.0. I see it
listed in the code for the pages, but it was residing on a server that does
not have front page extensions installed. I downloaded the code using the
websites FTP function. Then I opened the code in my front page 2003( Front
Page 6.0.?) When I open the freshingly imported index page, it looks nothing
like what is on the site. I tried downloading several times but always with
the same result. So I went to the site and there was a edit function to see
the code. I copied and pasted the code from the site directly into the html
page. Saw the code come in then said save, and when I opened it back up, all
the code was gone and what is there now, appears to be the same small bit of
code that existed before I did the paste option. I tried this several times
and it still would not replace the code. Any ideas?? Does someone have a
recommended way to try and extract code from a website that you have no idea
what product it was created with. I am guessing that maybe this website was
modified after the original creation or could it have been possibly created
using a DWT and this is the problem?

4.Pasted HTML Table Data Won't Convert From Text

When copying a table from a webpage, the numeric data pastes into Excel as
text. Normally, I can easily convert "text digits" by simply clicking in each
cell (as if to edit) or doing a search/replace, looking for one character (a
common digit, decimal point) and replacing it with the same. That method
isn't working with the HTML-originated data, which refuses to convert itself
unless it's re-typed.

What is it about this data type that makes it so stubborn?

TIA

5.Paste as text not HTML

In WOrd 2007 one can FINALLY paste info from a web page as text as the
default, not as HTML. Is this available in Excel 2007? I can't find it.
