I have a workbook with many worksheets in it. The first page is the summary of all of the worksheets. It there a way I can pull the data from the worksheets without having to cut and paste. The worksheets are a result of a download into that worksheet for the day. The columns may not end in the same cell every time.

I have created a spreadsheet that has many formulae. The spreadsheet is to be used by people who do not have a great understanding of Excel. I wish to protect the formulae so that others cannot overwrite these cells. Can anyone tell how to protect the cells without having to protect the whole workbook. Thanks. Allan
  • 3. Text in pivot table limited to 255 characters
I am using a pivot table as an efficient way to aggregate text responses from a large data set. However, the pivot table cuts off the text after the first 255 characters (similar to when you copy a worksheet by using the move/copy option). How can I overcome this? I have tried putting the pivot table on the same sheet as the dataset, but that does not work. I should also note that these pivot tables are then fed into an automated report through a complicated set of VLOOKUPs, etc. The pivot table aggregates several questions and responses from many areas of the datset into one discrete, defined area.

I need Microsoft Map - need downgrade path to Excel 2000

Postby VG9yc3Rlbg » Thu, 21 Apr 2005 20:18:03 GMT

I need the features from Microsoft Map, because it is tightly integrated with
Excel, and it allows me to add my own maps in MapInfo format.

I have not seen other products that allow me to use my own maps and have
same features.

I work with UN consultant, we create our own mapsas we work in areas of the
world where we do not have other sources.

I don't understand what you mean, why don't you buy office 2000 on eBay or
something
Or get MapPoint from which you can export maps to Excel

Not available with versions 2002 and 2003.

MS Map Point is now the application used.

Costs about $250.00 US.

An alternate is to use MapInfo product(which was the Excel 97 and 2000
product).

Very costly at minimum $595.00 US just for upgrade.

But............found this tidbit on the net thanks to Debra Dalgleish.

Mystery of the Missing Map Tool: If you believe Microsoft, the Excel Map tool
is permanently out of action in Office XP; it's been replaced by the $249
mapping and data analysis package MapPoint 2002. Microsoft assures you that
you can still open and view Excel 97 and 2000 files that contain maps in Excel
2002, but you can't alter them or create new ones.

Well, I don't always believe what Microsoft tells me. In fact, I've got the
Map tool working pretty well from inside Excel 2002. To be sure, my PC still
has Excel 2000 installed as well, but this trick might be worth a try even if
you don't, as long as you still have your Office 2000 CD-ROM and don't fancy
shelling out the cash for MapPoint: Using Excel 2002, open an Excel 2000 file
with a map in it and double-click the map. If you're prompted to, place your
Office 2000 disc in the drive so it installs the Map tool; the application
will then load and you can alter the map from within XP.

You can also create new maps in Excel 2002 using Insert / Object / the Create
New tab / Microsoft Map and clicking OK. Choose the country, then, when the
map is created, choose Insert / Data to select the data for the map. It isn't
as easy as it used to be, but it does work.

5.Microsoft Office Document Image Writer needed for Office 2000 install

Hi,

I've read through all the posts I could find but none of those
solutions work for my user. My user needs Microsoft Office Document
Image Writer but it is not present as a printer for her. Also,
Microsoft Office Document Image Writer is not an option as a Port or in

Add/Remove->Change->Office Tools.

Is it possible to add this to an Office 2000 install and/or does anyone
know the file location and name for the driver (or if knowing this will
even help) ? Maybe I can add it manually. Any
suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
bec
