  • 1. Deleting Rows of Data
I have a spreadsheet with 38000 rows of data. The data comes in with date (01/01/01) in column A and time (12:00:00) in Column B. The data is recorded every 5 secs. I would only want to keep data every 5 mins and delete the rest. I gather this can be done in two ways: 1) by deleting 'x' number of rows below the first data and repeat the process. 2) by matching values **:00:00, **:05:00, **:10:00 and such in Column B and deleting the rest of the columns. Can anyone help me with a macro to do this? Many thanks.

  • 5. Cells reverting to Text Format
Excel 2007 - every once in a while I run into the issue of a cell going to a text format instead of general format. When I edit a cell reference, it will want to change to text format and then instead of dsiplaying the results of my formula, it shows "=A1" in the cell for example. It shows the formula instead of the result. I can fix it by going to fomat cells and then changing it back to general number format instead of text number format but how can I fix this so I never have to change this and go through these steps.

How do I re-size the chart axis label text box

Postby SmVu » Sat, 25 Sep 2004 07:01:03 GMT

The text that I type into the y-axis label is always cut off. For example, I
would like the label to say:

Cell density
(cells/cm2)

But instead, it looks like

Cell densi
(cells/cm

I cannot get around this problem by choosing a smaller (or even larger) font
or by turning a long one-line entry into two lines of text.

I just upgraded to Excel 2003 Small Business Edition. This did not seem to
be a problem with Excel 2000.

Thanks,
Jen

Sorry. Just did a different search in the discussion and found all the posts
on this topic. I don't know whether I feel better that so many others have
had the same problem.

2.axis title text box is wrong size in chart for excel 2003

I created a chart in Excel 2003. I added an axis title call "Ports Market
Share". Excel has chosen to display only "Ports Market Sha". I can't find
any way to control the size of the text box as Excel has control. Modifing
the Font sizes does not fix the problem as the axis title text box just
resizes to fit "Ports Market Sha". Changing the text causes the same issue
as the last two letters are not displayed.

3.Text resizes in combo box when "Move and size with cells" set

I googled for an answer to my problem and interestingly exactly
the same question was asked in Feb 2002. Omminoustly there
were no answers so I thought I would give it another try...

I'm using Excel 2002/3.

"I've got a list of comboboxes in a sheet, one per row. In the property
dialog for the comboboxes, I chose "Move and size with cells" because
another column in each row is set to wrap, expanding in height as the
text grows. I'd like the combobox to grow in height as well. This
works, however the text in the combo also expands in height, making it
look pretty ugly. I can't find a property in the combo's property
sheet or in code to effect the font height."

Many thanks,

4.text boxes that label axes in line/scatter graphs

I tried to use "SAT-M" as y-axis label, but "M" was cut off (actually went to
second line that could not be seen). I tried every trick I know to lengthen
the text box, to fit label on one line.

5.Scatter chart with text labels as Y axis?

I have a series of worksheets, each representing tournament scores on a
particular pinball machine. Each sheet looks like this:

Player Score LoTR
Me 3,000,000
Her 2,000,000
You 1,000,000

Player names in column A, scores in column B, and the name of that machine
in cell C1.

I want to create a scatter chart like this:

LoTR | * * *
       |
AFM | * **
       |
ST | * * *
       +---------------------------------------
       0 1 2 3 4

Where each player score shows up as a data point on the scatter chart, with
scores running along the X axis and (here's the kicker) the text label on
the Y axis. This will enable people to visually ascertain the range and
distribution of scores for each machine.

I'm having trouble setting up the chart. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
