  • 1. Totalling sequential worksheets
I want to set up a generic formula that automatically looks for a particular cell in the previous worksheet & adds 1 to the value. When I copy & paste the formula, it copies exactly, instead up updating to the previous worksheet, even when I try copying only the formatting or formula. Example: In worksheet January 13, 2008, the formula is: =SUM('Dec 9, 2008'!M2+1) & the value is 7 In the worksheet February 10, the formula is: =SUM('Jan 13, 2008'!M2+1) and the value is 8 When I create the new worksheet March 10, 2009, I copy the cell from the February worksheet & paste it into the March work sheet, it comes out as: =SUM('Jan 13, 2008'!M2+1) with a value of 8 I want it to come out as: =SUM('Feb 10, 2009'!M2+1) with a value of 9. And so on.... so each total value in cell M2 gets greater in increments of 1, & that it calculates it without me having to create the formula for that cell each time - because there are approximately 25 cells in each worksheet that need to be updated in this way. Anybody got a clue? Thanks!
  • 2. VLOOKUP ?
I just purchased Excel 2003 and was reworking my spreadsheet from Works I use this formula in Works, =VLOOKUP(L4,$J$53:$K$104,1 It works fine there but dosen't work with Excel 2003
  • 3. two-dimensional frequency question
i have another peculiar question. Say you have the following data: A C B D B D B E A C B E A E B D B E A C B D and you want to count how many times an "A C" is followed by a "B D," and how many. So, output for the above would be: 1: 1 2: 1 i think the way to do it would be to sum over a frequency, but i can't figure out how to set the bin array the way i need it. the bins would have to start at "A C" and reset after any "A <>C" thoughts? maybe a way to do it that way or a better way entirely?
  • 4. Search Function
i am using a search function to evaluate a cell and return a 0 or a 1 depending on whether the text is found. The syntax used is as follows: =if(SEARCH("White",J2)>0,1,0) so i am searching a field with the word white and if it exists it will return a value that is greater than 0 and a 1 will be placed in the cell. This part works great and returns the desired result. If however the word White does not exist in the cello J2, the result is #VALUE! not 0. I tried to trap on #VALUE! to no avail. I tried to return the value of the search, the answer is the same. I tried testing on Null or ISNull to no avail. Do you have any ideas?

Is it possible to increase the font size of drop down
lists. The font is too small for legibility when faxed.

If you're talking about Data Validation drop-down lists, see Debra Dalgleish's
site for work-arounds.

Hi,
Using your Control Toolbox, go into the design mode, right
click on the combo box, go to properties, Select the
Categorized Tab, find Font and click on the box to the
right of the font name (it has 3 dots ...). From there
you will be able to select the font, size etc.
