  • 1. Outlook Express wont open
    When I click on my OE icon I get the blue flash screen then a white box on top saying: Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. There is no way I can get it to open. I have tried debugging, rebooting, sfc scannow, uninstalling and reinstalling and now dont know what else to do. Something is obviously corrupted. Can I just download OE6 again from Microsoft or do I have to download IE6 too? Can you still download IE6 or is it all 7 now which I dont want. I am using XP. Thanks
  • 2. Attachments sent don't register
    Ok, I have XP with IE7. My main email is a gmail account, and I use pop3. Just a couple of days ago I noticed that whenever I send an email with an attachment, OE tells me it did not go through, says there was an error, (but it doesn't say what the error was) and the email stays in the outbox. But if I go to the web and check my sent items from gmail...there is the email that OE said didn't go through! And in checking with the person I sent the email to...it got through. Any ideas?

  • 4. Folders Outlook Express
    In the folders section of Outlook Express the inbox section folder is expanded. How can I collapse the Inbox section. Clicking the minus box of Inbox does the trick but the next time I open Outlook Express the Inbox is expanded showing folders of the inbox. Thank You.

Anybody have this problem? What is the solution?
I am on Windows 98Se
When I click on the Outlook Express Icon
 (OE rel 6.00.2800.1106)I get the following message and I 
cannot go beyond this msg - OE will not open.
Msg "Identity Switch cancelled - The current identity 
could not be changed because one of the applications was 
unable to switch. Close any dialog boxes or other 
applications before trying again."

Nothing else is running.
I went to the support Knowledge base and got some possible 
solutions. Apparantly this issue has happened with OE5.5, 
perhaps it still continues with OE 6.0.
Solution is to edit the Registry - which I am hesitant to 
do.
What if I reload OE6 again perhaps a later version will 
have a fix on this problem.
I downloaded OE6 back in May 2003, it has been working 
fine until 2 days ago.
I still have InternetExplorer working on the internet plus
SBCyahoo mail.
But I want OE6 working to get all my very important email 
and address book info.
Any solutions thoughts will be much appreciated.

Pay a visit to Windows Update, John.  Your anti-virus application should be
disabled the entire time BTW.

There is no Account ID in the registry.

This does not sound like an Outlook message. Only Outlook Express uses 
identities.

4.Identity Switch Cancelled

Hello All,

I just recently installed office 2003 on an XP machine 
PRO at work.  Everytime I try to set up the user via 
Outlook I get this message.

Identity Switch Cancelled.
The current identity could not be changed because one of 
the applications was unable to switch. Close any open 
dialog boxes in other applications before trying again.

You can click it and everything is normal but I would 
like to get rid of this message.  Also I have done a 
search for this error but only found articles relating to 
outlook express and not outlook office 2003.

5.Identity switch cancelled error

I get this error when I connect to Outlook. It indicates the current identity 
could not be changed. I upgraded from Outlook 2000 so I am not sure what it 
means and how to correct it. 

6. OE6 / XP home edition closes and wont open when we switch identities
