1.Share an OE store file over a Network?
I just put together a home network between my old PC and a new notebook.
Is there any way to get OE on my notebook to use the same OE store that
my PC uses so I can view and reorganize mail on my notebook, but my PC
is the machine that downloads it from the server?
2.how can one change the default store folder to network share folder
The default folder for outlook is <documetn and settings
root>\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{identityID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
using tools, options, maint tab, store folder tab will not let me.
3.Share one Message Store & WAB w/ multiple XP Users - Can't start OE
Goal:
Trying to share one OE Message Store and one Address Book with multiple XP
Users (NOT multiple OE Identities, just one). Have read MS KnowledgeBase
topics, articles and newsgroup posts. Nothing matches my situation exactly.
Could use advice.
Background:
1. Am Using XP SP1 Home . with 3 User accounts and OE 6, with one OE
Identity (Main Identity).
2. XP "User A" has access to OE Message Store and WAB fine, after
backup from old PC and restore to new PC months ago (using OE Freebie
Backup)
3. XP "User B" could open OE, but didn't see Message folders or WAB.
4. Then, I "Moved" Message Store from ..Documents and Settings \"User
A" folder to ..Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents folder by:
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder. (per MS KB Article Id
317031).
5. XP "User A" still works fine
6. XP "User B" now gets:
Outlook Express could not be started ... 0x8007000E 5.... then ..
Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be
initialized
Possible Solutions ????:
1. Need to move WAB to same folder as Message Store? How?
2. Want to avoid reinstall of OE6
Thanks in advance,
Semaj
4.Share OE accounts or identities over a network
On my home network (using netscape) I can share fully share mail
profiles by sharing the mail folders on the "host" computer and mapping
the mail folder as a network drive on the other computers sharing that
mail file. True, two computers can't have the same profile open at the
same time, but in every other way, in all practical realities, the same
profile is fully functional and accessible from any other computer on
the network provided that the computer hosting the mail folders is
switched on.
I want to be able to do the same thing at my work-place with OE (and
even with one terminal which has Outlook, if possible).
Tip of the month:
Don't use Windex or other chemical cleaners to clean mirrors... This
causes the destruction of the backing of the mirror around the edges.
Splash the mirror with water, and use a dry cloth. It's just as
effective.
