Problem: Microsoft Windows XP Home. The documents I read, produce, look at all open up narrow. You know that you can produce documents 8-1/2 inches wide. I can't. My documents are about 6 inches wide. Please tell me how to fix. Thank you

I see non html messages in Arial 12, how do I change it to 10?
  • 3. FUBAR: do not compact!
Discovered by chance that if I compact my OE6 folders the system simply eats up some messages...the first time this happened it "deleted" about 10 folders in one sector (all beginning with D-M, but scattered)....I carefully moved my mailstore folder to preserve all the dbx. files, but lo, when I did that, the folders that had vanished from OE also vanished from the hard drive. So when this happened again (and no, I'm not stupid; I didn't realize that "compacting" caused the problem until it happened the second time) I did nothing; I still have the folder on my hard drive....so here's the deal; I can't import any of those back to OE...I get the message saying the program is in use or files aren't there....when I tried to import from CD backup (a CD made in 2003) I got the same message UNTIL I tried it on a computer running Win98, and then it would work. but it will not import on any system running XP (I've tried three computers now). My trust in OE is pretty well fried, will switch to Eudora (do have gmail but need non-web-based for existing work e-dress)....what the F....is going on? what happened to OE? I would consider reloading it because my version is obviously corrupt, but....I took it to my trusty tech and he refused to deal with it, he says OE is just a problem waiting to happen and re-happen.

Running WinME with OE6 and IE6: Every time I try to open either of these programs I have to re-enter my password in the "Connect to" box. Despite many ticks being placed in the "remember password" box. What am I missing here folks?

Import and export store folder (Local Folder) over network

Postby Jackmad » Sun, 30 May 2004 00:29:43 GMT

Hello,

I got a new computer and I am trying to import one folder
(only) from my old computer's store folder to new
computer store folder. I was told that when I import
through the network, I have a choice to select only the
folder, I want to import. I checked Microsoft site and I
didn't find a page how to accomplish this task.

Can some body direct me to a site or give me instructions?

Thank you so much in advance.

1.local store folders renamed and cut off...wont export and import correctly

I am trying to move my email from Windows Mail on a Vista machine to
another running the same.

In Windows Mail I see all my emails and folder structure. But in
Explorer when I go to the local store folder and view it the folder
names are cut off and followed by random characters for example:
"blahfolder 23f" or "blahfol 2f4"

So of course when I use export and import the messed up folder names
are what get carried over.

Same if I do Windows Easy Transfer to back it and move the mail to the
new machine.

I cant seem to find anything on the net about this problem.

I'm stumped and with tens of thousands of email to move and dozens of
custom folders it would be a nightmare to have to start from
scratch.

Thank for any help anyone can provide.

2.Importing mails from MSN Explorer Mail stored on local folder

I am helping a friend to migrate from Quest MSN Explorer Mail to Live Mail.
All the folders that are on the MSN server migrated without problem.
However, there are a few of the local folders on the local HD that I wanted
to import/migrate to Live Mail as well, but I have not found a way to do so.

The Import from Live Mail seems to support only the MS Exchange, MS Outlook,
MS OE, Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail. There is no option for the MSN
Explorer mail. I have tried the Live Mail option, for example, and the best
I got was the empty folders but no mails were imported. Can anyone think of
a way to do so?

I know I can forward the mails to myself via MSN, but this is a kludge I
won't want to undertake. It screws up the dates for one thing and the
number is just too many. The MSN mail is running dog-slow right now (a
separate issue) and that is one of the reasons for migrating to Live Mail.

Thanks!

3.how can one change the default store folder to network share folder

4.Home networked...can I export/import folders?

I am home networked, and am able to view new messages on both PC's fine.
However, is there a way for me to import the folders that I have on my

Thanks!

5.Synchronizing folder - laptop local drive to network drive on server

It sounds like you are talking about "Briefcase". Instructions for setup
are found in Windows "Help"

> I think this should be easy... I simply want to have a folder on my laptop automatically update a mirrored folder on the server at work if I would have changed a document while on the road. Upon returning to the office, these two folders would compare to check for the latest changes (word docs or excel docs or whatever I put in there) and prompt for updating the older copy. It should work just like a palm computer does. How do I go about setting this up?
