  • 1. Question related to the 'Combine and Decode' option problem.
The Combine and Decode option is available when I select more messages in the same thread. This option adds all selected the messages into one message so I can save it into one file. I find an unsuitable thing there. Sometimes when I do the news conversation watching I chose this option. The problem occures then. My OE mixes selected the messages in unproper order. I want them to be ordered exacly by time of posting so when I am reading them I can read it into the same file and of course in the proper order. I find it very incomfortable. If somebody could help me and tell me what should be the problem about this? Thanks!
  • 2. OE 6.0 doesn't remember folder of last saved attachment
Hi All, my outlook express 6.0 does't remember anymore the folder the last attachement was saved in, so if I need to save attachment of several different emails (during the same session, i.e. without closing and then opening OE again )each time I have to browse my hard disk to choose the desired folder, 'cause the save dialog box always suggests My Documents Folder. On the other hand everything works fine with IE save dialog box, i.e. if I save an image displayed in a web page, next time I save another image I'm prompt to save it in the previous folder. My PC is running windows 98 second edition and I upgraded to IE 6.0 and OE 6.0 from version 5.5. But for quite a long time everything worked as it should do. By the way I have Virusscan installed, updated and running on my PC and no viruses has been found up to now. Thanks Marino

I block certain senders of email to me, but the next time I open Outlook Express those senders are no longer on the Blocked Senders List and I get their mail. This used to work for me, but I don't understand why I doesn't work now.

clicking on a link in email causes a new IE window to open

Postby Rm9yZXN0IERyZWFtZXI » Sun, 22 Nov 2009 04:16:10 GMT

Is there any way to get Outlook Express to open links in a new tab if I
already have internet explorer open instead of opening a new window. I find
that when 2 versions of IE are open at the same time it can cause both to
crash.
I have IE8 set so that when I click on a link on a webpage, it opens in a
new tab. Is there a way to get OE to do the same thing instead of ignoring
the explorer that is already running?
Thank you.

There isn't any setting in OE to control this.

The function is controlled by the Windows File Associations, and the
browser itself.

See this article:
OLEXP: How to Configure OE to Open Links in E-mail Messages in a New
Browser Window
 http://www.**--****.com/

You want to the reverse, so make sure that Use DDE IS checked.

The DDE settings apply if the application (IE) is already open.

Have you visited the tab settings in IE8? It's there.

1.I.E. 5.5 click link and open a new window

I.E. 5.5 on W2k, is there a way to click a link and have it open a new I.E.
window by default, without using the right click "open in a new window"
option?

Doesn't matter to me but a user opened a ticket on it. After looking around
it appears that the right click method is the way it's supposed to work. He
said it used to work that way, a left click and it would open a new windows.
This was before the company was taken off Novell and onto AD, and everyone's
PC was reimaged. I don't know what version of I.E. he had previously.

2.new email indicator clicking causes two windows to open

Hey Everyone,

Am I the only one to which this is happening?

I get an alert from messenger that a new email is in my inbox. I click on
the alert and then if I have an existing window open, hotmail opens in the
first and then a new window opens asking me to enter my password and that my
password is not valid. Meanwhile, the other window goes to my inbox.

I don't think that's the way that it should work.

FYI:
Tabbing is off

Thanks,
Joe

3.OE will open IE instead of new message window when clicking email

A co-worker has had a weird problem for the last couple of months. Anytime he
clicks on another person's email address in a message in OE 6.0, it will open
30 or more IE windows instead of opening a new message window with that email
address in it. And on occasion, it will not let him attach any files. Does
anyone know what's causing this and how to fix it?

4.SUGGESTION: Links in Emails Should "Open in New Window" into IE

I pull my hair out when clicking on a web link in an Outlook 2007 email and
it highjacks an already open IE browser window (sometimes dumping entered
data).

Can a checkbox option be added to Outlook 2007 for web links in emails to
"Open in New Window" into IE or have a right click menu option to "Open in
New Window" (just like is available on a web page in IE)?

5.Over 50 empty IE windows open when I click a link to an email address

The subject box ALMOST says it all.....I have 4 users on my home
computer and this only happens in one of the accounts.

I can link to web pages with no problem but if I link to an email
address the computer freezes for a few minutes and then anything from
50 - 60 empty Internet Explorer windows open one after the other.
This happens if I click a link in Outlook Express or in Mozilla ( my
preferred web browser)

6. Two IE 6.0 brower windows open when I click link in Outlook

7. cant open new ie window when clicking on link

8. IE 6 crash when clicking on link opening a new window
