Quicker way to read newsgroups away from home?
by Brett » Tue, 23 Nov 2004 21:23:37 GMT
When I'm at work, the only access I have to newsgroups is Google Groups. I
have tried setting up the news server in OE by putting my user name and
password for the ISP I use at home. This always returns an access denied
error. They won't set up the ISP we use at work for some reason.
Google Groups are nice. The problem is at least a 6 hour or more lag before
you can view any post. Are there any quicker methods when you're away from
home?
Thanks,
Brett

For this newsgroup, set up an account for
msnews.microsoft.com
The server is free and does not require you to logon.

Frank Saunders, MS-MVP IE/OE < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > did some thinking and
came up with these words:
Probably won't work while "at work" as the company probable denies access to
the required port for news.

For reading posts only (unfortunately, the microsoft.public groups are not
available), try http://www.**--****.com/ 's a sample of one that you can
read: http://www.**--****.com/
page is a link for you to read the posting, which are very current, if it is
a group available (and there are many.

It isn't the MS news groups I'm wanting to read. I can already do that from
work. It's the other non MS groups. Those provided by your ISP. For
example, rec.travel, alt.coffee, misc.legal, alt.health, etc.
Thanks,
Brett

Does your company's ISP offer newsgroups? You won't be able to use your
home ISP's newsgroups unless you're connected to that ISP at work.

I posted a message on outlook general and had no answer but found that it is

through outlook. recently in the past 3 days this feature has not been
working on BCM in contacts, and accounts? does anyone know if this feature
can be turned off. it happened to one user 2 days ago then. it still worked
fine on my computer i went online today and since that i have lost this
