Cant install BCM becasue SQL won't install

Postby U2VhbiBBdA » Fri, 25 Sep 2009 09:44:03 GMT

I've tried the tricks I found posted here (deleting all SQL programs,
deleting folders and emptying trash, and even cleaning the registry), but my
install of BCM won't install SQL. Any clued?

1.Outlook with BCM installed on SQL server cant connect to database

Question:
Can BCM 2007 client access a shared database hosted on SQL2005 on the same
machine client installed on?

I know this should not normally be done, but have new client who has one
remote user who is the MD who uses an RDP session to thier SBS 2003 box to
work. He does not want to have an extra desktop PC for his sole remote
access, or a Terminal Server when he's the only remote user.

The BCM database is on a custom instance/database on the SQL, but when
trying to connect to shared database, using the same details which work on
the workstations, it can connect and shows the database name.
But when we click Next we recive
"Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or
actions. Please try again."

In the event viewer we recive :
Event ID 17207
FCB::Open: Operating system error 32(error not found) occurred while
creating or opening file 'C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Business Contact
Manager\MSSmallBusiness.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system
error, and retry the operation.

and

Event ID 17204
FCB::Open failed: Could not open file C:\Documents and
Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Business
Contact Manager\MSSmallBusiness.mdf for file number 0. OS error: 32(error
not found).

2.Installing SQL Server SP4 for MSDE installed with BCM

Does anyone know how to do this? When I ran the security analyzer MBSA 1.2.1
it mentioned that I needed to apply SP4, but when I looked through the
readme.txt for applying SP4 to MSDE it doesn't mention the BCM case.
The readme implies there are many wrong turns.
Has anyone seen an MSDN article covering SP4 and BCM/MSDE?
Does Office update take care of it?

3.BCM install fails at SQL install

I tried all the tricks here by cleaning the folders (delete and empty)
uninstalling all MS SQL products, rebooting, and even cleaning the registry.
But I still get errror on installing sql. Here is the log info:

4.Installing SQL Server 2008 Express with BCM installed

I've had BCM installed for a while now. It is using the 2005 verion of
SQL Server.

I want to download and install SQL Server 2008 Express to learn about
SQL.

Question: Do I need to install SQL Server 2008, or can I just create a
new database in SQL Server 2005 that BCM installed?

Question: Will there be conflicts if I install SQL Server 2008 Express
on the same machine as BCM?

Thanks

Dino

5.install BCM fails on installing SQL Server 2005 Express

I have upgraded Office 2000 Pro to Office 2007 Pro on WinXP Pro and now want
to install BCM.

First problem: DVD2 doesn't autorun, so I ran setup.exe manually, which
resulted in error "failed to install the required component MS SQL Server
2000 Express (MSSMLBIZ).

The log location mentioned gives the following information:

Machine : <my machine>
Product : SQL Server Database Services
Error : SQL Server Setup failed to modify security permissions on
service MSSQLServerADHelper for user <my user>. To proceed, verify that the
account and domain running SQL Server Setup exist, that the account running
SQL Server Setup has administrator privileges, and that exists on the
destination drive.

followed by a few more error messages.

I have administrator rights (I am the only user on this machine) and I even
tried to remove my password, I have tried a different install directory, but
I can't get past this issue.

What is weird is that the error message wants me to check for existence of a
file (?) but fails to mention what teh name is.

Please anyone help me get past this error

Thanks
